Jimmy Kimmel returns to ABC on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 after a weeklong suspension by ABC’s parent company Disney following backlash for comments about the killing of Charlie Kirk that he made in a monologue the previous week.
The comments raised the ire of FCC chairman Brenden Carr, who signaled that the government agency would look into the matter. Later, major U.S. station group owners Sinclair and Nexstar made the decision to pull the late-night show from its ABC affiliates — a total of 53 stations in the U.S.
After ABC announced Monday it was reinstating Kimmel and return him to air, those station owners sent out word they would continue to preempt the show. That means no Kimmel in six of the 30 biggest U.S. TV markets including Washington, D.C. (No. 8), Seattle-Tacoma, WA (No. 12), Portland, OR (No. 22), St. Louis, MO (No. 24), Nashville, TN (No. 26) and Salt Lake City, UT (No. 28).

What if I am in a market that’s not showing ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’?
There are a couple of options. Jimmy Kimmel Live! episodes generally go up on Disney‘s Hulu platform the next morning, usually in the early hours PT. Deadline understands that will be the case for tonight’s show.
Additionally, Jimmy Kimmel Live! is among the ABC titles that, as part of the network’s distribution agreements, are offered to pay-TV providers such as Xfinity, DirecTV, Spectrum or YouTube TV on-demand regardless of preemptions. These platforms could make tonight’s episode available to subscribers on-demand sometime after it airs live on ABC, including in Sinclair and Nexstar markets.
The other option that might be quicker is YouTube. Jimmy Kimmel Live! has a YouTube channel with more than 20 million subscribers that generally uploads clips from that night’s episode later the same night.
