All Major Titles Coming This Month

After the surprise release of several incredibly anticipated titles like Hollow Knight: Silksong and Hades 2, September has been an incredible month for gaming releases, with games like Ghost of Yotei following in their footsteps. Even if it has a tough run to follow with more than a few GOTY contenders, the month of October has just as many, if not more, fantastic games to look forward to.

Even if the majority of major releases coming out in October follow the trend of primarily sequels once again, that doesn’t mean they aren’t shaping up to be some incredibly exciting experiences. From the return of classic multiplayer franchises to single-player experiences aiming to one-up their predecessors, you’ll want to keep an eye out for more than a few releases coming out this month.

Ghost Of Yotei Is Another Open-World Masterpiece

Having already received high praise from its pre-release reviews, Ghost of Yotei already looks like it will be yet another GOTY contender from Sucker Punch Productions. Releasing on October 2 as a PlayStation 5 exclusive. Following the wandering mercenary Atsu and her story of revenge set over 300 years after the original, Ghost of Yote seems to take full advantage of both its historical and cinematic inspirations.

Even if Ghost of Yotei treads similar ground as its indirect predecessor, the new storyline, time period, and weapon variety still offer a fresh experience for new players and fans of the series alike.

While we might have to wait some time before Ghost of Yotei‘s exclusivity deal with PlayStation runs out to play it on other systems, it just gives you even more time to catch up on the other great games releasing this month.

Battlefield 6 Has Plenty To Offer Multiplayer Fans This October

Shaking Off The Stigma From Its Past Mistakes

Although fast-paced FPS fans will have to wait another month for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, the upcoming release of Battlefield 6 could finally offer some serious competition for the genre once again. Reintroducing fan-favorite elements like class-based squad, a modern setting, and even more emphasis on destruction, Battlefield 6 is aiming to return to the glory days of its predecessors.

With the inclusion of both a fully fleshed-out single-player campaign and even a battle royale mode to compete with Call of Duty Warzone, Battlefield 6 has plenty of surprises up its sleeve to shake up the standard gameplay experience. With a much more grounded focus on more tactical action and brutal all-out warfare, there’s plenty to look forward to when it releases on October 10.

While there was some concern over small maps or changes related to its weapon balancing, if the record-breaking playercounts are anything to go by, Battlefield 6 will be well worth the investment for any multiplayer shooter fans out there.

September Has More Standout Indie Games To Offer

Sometimes, The Best Games Come In A Smaller Package

On top of the major releases of the month, plenty of smaller games like Little Nightmares 3 have just as much to offer despite their smaller scale, with the potential to offer more exciting and horrifying features. Finally adding multiplayer support to the iconic horror series from Tarsier Studios, Little Nightmares 3 and its October 10th release pair perfectly with the spookier parts of the season.

The beloved co-op puzzle game Escape Simulator is also getting an exciting sequel of its own, and with a playable demo out now already, Escape Simulator 2 is offering a drastic boost in visual fidelity when it releases on October 27. Taking the core aspects of what made the original so iconic, combined with new features like a level editor and entirely new maps to challenge your inner puzzlemaster.

There Are Plenty Of Other Exciting Releases On The Way

A Stacked Calendar Of Long-Awaited Sequels

Another major AAA sequel on the horizon is none other than Obsidian Entertainment’s Outer Wilds 2, which aims to expand the comedic capitalist nightmare of its predecessor even further with an entirely new star system. Exploring everything the Arcadia system’s new planets have to offer, with even sharper and more tactical FPS gameplay, there’s even more incentive to check out Outer Wilds 2, even if you never played its predecessor.

Even going as far as to bring in more of the best features from Fallout,​​​​​​and an all-new trade-off perk system that helps create unique stories and playthroughs based on your active gameplay decisions in the world of Outer Wilds 2​​​​​.

Following the sequel trend even further, Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines 2 is finally getting an official release on October 21. After years of seemingly being stuck in development hell since it was first announced in 2019, Bloodlines 2 seems to have changed drastically since its initial inception.

Setting high expectations for the follow-up to the cult classic experience of the original Vampire: The Masquerade, the revamped and bloodier sequel will have a lot going for it if it can pull off creating yet another ambitiously grim world. Thankfully, even if horror, co-op, or sci-fi games aren’t your jam, there are still plenty of other games on the horizon that can satisfy your gaming itch.

Nintendo Switch 2 is also getting several major ports with a back-to-back release of the Super Mario Galaxy 1+2 bundle, alongside September’s Borderlands 4 on October 3 and 4, respectively.

Even without direct ports, plenty of the most exciting releases of October are finding their way onto the portable console as well. One of these titles is the first original home console release of a new Katamari game in roughly 14 years, with Once Upon a Katamari, set to release on October 24 for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, Switch, and PC simultaneously.

Although the biggest releases, like Ghost of Yotei, Battlefield 6, and Pokémon Legends: Z-A, are bound to take up most of the attention over the next few weeks, that doesn’t mean October doesn’t have a plethora of other exciting games releasing on the horizon to keep an eye out for.
