Bison, also known as Bison Kaalamaadan, is an upcoming Indian Tamil-language sports drama film written and directed by Mari Selvaraj. It is jointly produced by Sameer Nair, Deepak Seigal, Pa. Ranjith and Aditi Anand under Applause Entertainment and Neelam Studios. The film stars Dhruv Vikram and Anupama Parameswaran in the lead roles, alongside Lal, Pasupathy, Rajisha Vijayan, Hari Krishnan, Azhagam Perumal and Kalaiyarasan. The trailer for the movie was released on Monday, October 13, by Anupama Parameswaran, Rajisha Vijayan, Pashupati, Lal, Azhagam Perumal, and Kalaiyarasan. The film was officially announced in December 2020 under the tentative title DV03, as it marked Dhruv’s third film as a lead actor; the official title was announced in May 2024.
What to expect from Bison?
The trailer revolves around a lower-caste teenager (played by Dhruv Vikram) who is passionate about kabaddi but is often prevented by the oppressive forces in his environment. The local power brokers that Dhruv’s character battles to establish his identity and realise his community’s dreams are portrayed by actors Lal and Ameer.
Dhruv Vikram talks about Mari Selvaraj
At a recent event, Dhruv Vikram praised Bison director Mari Selvaraj. He said, “No matter how much I thank my guru, Mari Selvaraj sir, it won’t be enough. Some people were saying that I wasted 2-3 years on his films, but for Mari sir, I would wait 10 years to make a film with him. This film would be even better if Mari sir had acted in it. Each time as an actor, if you can recapture 10% of what he is showing us on set, it would be correct.” The actor also shared how he used to wait for Mari’s approval on set with bated breath. “I used to yearn to hear the words ‘take ok’ and ‘super da’ from him on set. I used to feel like I had done something in life if he said ‘take ok’ itself. Thank you, Mari sir, for the effort you put into this film and for thinking of me to play the lead role.” Bison, marking Dhruv Vikram’s third film, after Adithya Varmaa and Mahaan, is set for release on October 17, arriving as a major Diwali release.
