REVIEW โ Our ice maker recently broke and apparently my children will die if they donโt have ice in their water for bedtime. This ice maker from Costway makes the most amazing nugget ice. It takes less than 15 minutes to make a batch of ice, and everyone is happy.

Design and features
There is just something magical about nugget ice. I am not an ice chewer, but I just canโt help myself when it comes to these pellets. They are the perfect size, and very chewable. They cool down your drinks fast, and add that fancy feel to any beverage.
This appliance is only nine inches wide, and fourteen deep. It takes up less room on my countertop than my KitchenAid. The vent for all the hot air is on the side, so donโt place it next to your chocolate supply.
Filling up this ice maker is super simple. There is a small water tank that has a flap on the top that can be lifted up to make refilling it super simple. Then you just slide the tank back into place and itโs done. Thatโs it. Itโs so easy that my five year old can fill the ice maker. To fill the water tank you have to open the ice container first, then you can pull the tank out or slide it back in.
The door to the ice pulls forward at an angle and helps to reduce the mess that happens when the ice doesnโt quite make it into the cup. However, since it is small ice, and water bottles have smaller openings, there is almost always melting ice on our counter. I have tried to help reduce the mess by placing a dish drying mat under the machine. It is very absorbent, and I feel that the amount of ice that gets spilled isnโt enough to cause damage, and will dry quickly.
The controls on the top of this unit is an LED system that lets you know when to add water, or if the ice is full. It has a cleaning button, and lets you know that the machine is cleaning with the LED display. There are also lights inside the ice compartment.
Because the buttons are touch sensitive, Iโve had a couple times that one of my kids will press the clean button. It basically just starts sending water through the system without trying to freeze anything. Itโs a nice cleaning system. There is a plug on the bottom that you can open to drain all the water and rinse everything. I have very hard water where I live, and even though it goes through a filter, I am glad to be able to clean out the machine more often so things donโt get too covered in hard water deposits.
I wish there was a place to put the scooper. With as many hands as I have coming and going all the time, the scooper rarely stays in the same place. If there was a hook, or some designated place to store the scoop that would be better. The ice maker is magnetic though, so we have placed a hook on the side to help keep track of things.
Final thoughts
I love how fast this ice maker produces the nuggets. Itโs fantastic how much ice can be made from one fill from the water tank. Iโm not much of an ice chewer, but these nuggets are small and soft, and I just canโt seem to help grabbing a couple every time I go past. Itโs my new favorite munchies food. Everyone seems to be happier with nugget ice.
