Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone spinoff, The Dutton Ranch, announced four new cast members, and one of them looks like the prolific writer-producer is doubling down on the success of 1923 and Landman breakout star, Michelle Randolph.
Picking up after the end of Yellowstone, The Dutton Ranch centers on the happily married Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser). Beth and Rip now own a 7,000-acre ranch and must deal with new foes and obstacles while raising their adopted son, Carter (Finn Little).
Taylor Sheridan cast newcomer Michelle Randolph as Elizabeth Strafford in 1923, where she acted opposite legends Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren. However, Randolph truly shined as Ainsley Norris, the daughter of Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) and Angela Norris (Ali Larter) in Landman.

The Dutton Ranch Looks Like Taylor Sheridan’s Strongest Yellowstone Spinoff
Yellowstone has three spinoffs on the way, including Y: Marshals on CBS about Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes), and The Madison, starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell. However, The Dutton Ranch is loaded up with the type of firepower that makes it the most likely to replicate Yellowstone‘s success.
Along with the continuation of Beth and Rip’s volcanic love story as its focus, The Dutton Ranch boasts more Taylor Sheridan A-list casting, including Annette Bening as a wealthy ranch owner and possible villain, Ed Harris as a veterinarian who could be Beth and Rip’s ally, and Jai Courtney as an imposing ranch foreman.
Y: Marshals picking up Kayce Dutton’s story is promising, but being a CBS network series, rather than streaming, might soften the gritty realism fans expect from Yellowstone. Meanwhile, The Madison is a Yellowstone-adjacent spinoff that is more of a separate thing beyond the Dutton family legacy.
