Call of Duty is back with another fully-fledged campaign for Black Ops 7, this time starring Hollywood actor Milo Ventimiglia as David Mason. It feels more like a classic Call of Duty campaign in terms of its mission-by-mission framework, but in practice, it’s very different from pretty much every other game in the series.
Mason and his squad will be dealing with what is essentially a fear toxin, not unlike what Scarecrow deploys in the Batman franchise. It makes for one wild ride, especially when you’re ostensibly fighting zombie-like enemies in campaign mode.

What Happens In The Ending Of Black Ops 7?
Does David Mason Triumph?
Throughout the campaign, protagonist David Mason is primarily attempting to dismantle The Guild, notably a “revived” Raul Menendez, who threatens to trigger a world-ending event. With his team (Specter One), Mason battles through various hallucinations born out of a chemical toxin in control of The Guild, and eventually makes his way to The Guild’s core facility. Specter One takes it down, saves the world, and The Guild’s CEO Emma Kagan is taken into custody. All is seemingly well until we get a little tease of more to come.
At the very end of the campaign, a mysterious character is introduced via the game’s subtitle function named Alden Dorne. Dorne seems to have full access to The Guild’s weaponry, given that he has robots around him. While many elements of Dorne are still up for speculation, they align perfectly with the strategy that Black Ops 6 employed previously, showcasing a central character (in this case, Jackson Caine) who will become a more prominent presence throughout the upcoming season.
How Will Black Ops 7’s Ending Connect To Endgame?
We’ll Get A Seasonal Storyline
With Kagan out of the way, it seems like Dorne is poised to take over The Guild in some capacity, either from within or as an outside force. In any case, we’re likely going to see Dorne pop up again in the game’s Endgame activity, which allows players to continue the story in an extraction shooter sandbox format.
Treyarch notes that it will be updating Endgame as the seasons progress, potentially with additional story revelations. In any case, Dorne’s tease at the end hints that there’s more story to come with Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.
