120 Bahadur: Farhan Akhtar’s war drama becomes FIRST film to release pan India in defence theatres
120 Bahadur becomes the first film to screen across India’s defence theatres, reaching soldiers and families through PictureTime’s mobile cinema network.
Excel Entertainment and Trigger Happy Studios are set to launch their new film 120 Bahadur, particularly for soldiers and their families. The war drama will become the first Indian film to premiere in defence theatres throughout the nation via PictureTime’s growing mobile cinema network. The movie premieres worldwide on November 21, and the team expresses that this choice aims to deliver theatrical entertainment directly to those stationed at the most challenging locations.
120 Bahadur makes history
PictureTime, in collaboration with GenSync Brat Media, has arranged screenings of the film in more than 800 defense cinema venues throughout India. These theatres primarily serve soldiers and their families, many of whom reside in isolated areas where normal movie access is limited. The company claims the concept is straightforward; bring films to the audience rather than the reverse. Sushil Chaudhary, the Founder-CEO of PictureTime, stated that the decision felt long overdue, “There are 1.5 million active soldiers and over six million viewers. But only 30% of India’s 20-million-strong veteran and family audience has access to defence cinemas. We aim to expand the ecosystem to additionally reach the underserved 70% and we begin with a bang with 120 Bahadur, a film we know will deeply resonate with the forces,” he stated. Excel Entertainment CEO Vishal Ramchandani expressed that the team feels honored that the film will be viewed first by the individuals it intends to celebrate. “120 Bahadur honours the courage and sacrifice of our armed forces. We feel truly privileged that the soldiers whose spirit the film celebrates will be watching it with their families. Our sincere thanks to PictureTime for facilitating this screening for those who serve the nation,” he stated, adding that PictureTime’s support made the large-scale outreach possible.
