From the outside, the rumors weren’t baseless. Penn State remains one of the few Power Four programs without a head coach heading into championship weekend. As other universities moved quickly to secure their hires, many in the sport believed the Nittany Lions were waiting for a top-tier coach who was still preparing for a conference title game.
