It’s time for the final race of the 2025 Formula One season and this year’s World Drivers Championship race is far from decided.
This year is the first since 2021 where the title hasn’t been determined ahead of the final race, and for just the seventh time in F1 history, three drivers are still in contention.
Thanks to some questionable McLaren strategy in last week’s Qatar Grand Prix, current WDC leader Lando Norris wasn’t able to secure his first career title. During an early safety car, as most drivers took an opportunity to pit, McLaren kept both Norris and Oscar Piastri (currently third in the WDC) out on the track; Max Verstappen and Red Bull took full advantage when both McLarens eventually had to pit, pulling into first place and winning the race, keeping himself in the WDC conversation as well.
There are a handful of scenarios for each driver to clinch the title, but the most straightforward one is this: with a 12 point lead over Verstappen and a 16 point lead over Piastri, Norris must simply finish ahead of both drivers to win.
