The X-Men’s Emma Frost is famous for including elements of haute couture in her superhero costumes, but 2025 introduced a unique new twist on her iconic white ensemble.
Emma Frost Debuted New Streetwear-Inspired Costume in 2025
This year, Marvel released a bunch of new art from Inhyuk Lee’s Street-Verse – a theoretical alternate universe where superhero uniforms are a lot less bombastic, instead being a combo of their classic comic costumes and modern streetwear.
Emma Frost’s new look retains her iconic white corset, while adding a reflective, diamond-pattern jacket and shoes, evoking her ability to transform into a diamond form. She also wears a luxurious muffler and stole, retaining the sense of glamor and prestige that defines the character.
Emma Frost wasn’t the only X-Men hero to get a new look – Inhuk Lee’s art also transformed Psylocke, Storm, Magik and Rogue, as well as non-mutant icons like She-Hulk, the Black Cat and Spider-Gwen.
The new art adds to the artist’s creations for 2023’s AAPI Heritage Month, showcasing heroes including Iron Fist, Shang-Chi, Sister Grimm and more.
X-Men’s Emma Frost Is Only Ever One Thought Away from a Costume Change
Emma Frost is the ultimate superhero fashionista, partly because she doesn’t always need a physical costume. Thanks to her powerful telepathic abilities, Emma can cause others to see her however she wants.
Indeed, her psychic adventures often involve entering the minds of others, in which she’s liable to transform accordingly – as seen in the recent Exceptional X-Men #10 (from Eve L. Ewing, Carmen Carnero and Federica Nancin), where Emma got a new look fashioned after X-Villain Mister Sinister.
Emma Frost is so committed to fashion that it spread to the entire X-Men franchise. During the 2019 to 2024 Krakoan Era, Emma hosted a series of annual ‘Hellfire Galas.’ The comics set up new narrative events, but also provided an excuse for each X-Men hero to get a new one-time haute couture costume, designed by Emma’s chief fashion designer, Jumbo Carnation (though the majority actually came from acclaimed artist Russell Dauterman.)
Of course, even on the occasion of a Hellfire Gala, Emma outdid her fellow mutants by experimenting with multiple costume changes across the night. Despite that, Inhyuk Lee’s streetwear redesign of the X-Men hero stands alone, offering a totally new way of reimagining Emma Frost‘s sense of style.
