Glasgow Rangers are set to welcome two new additions to their squad in the not-too-distant future as they look to make a fast start to the January transfer window.
The Scottish Premiership giants are reportedly closing in on a £7m double swoop for Westerlo left-back Tuur Rommens, for a fee of £3m, and Sturm Graz defensive midfielder Tochi Chukwuani, for a fee of £4m.
They are due to bolster Danny Rohl’s options at the back and in midfield, as the German head coach hunts down his first league title with the club.
Whilst the Gers are, clearly, looking to improve their team by dipping into the market to sign new stars, there is also the potential that other clubs look to snap up their players.
European club considering move for Rangers star
In fact, there is reportedly growing interest in a Light Blues player who only made the move to Ibrox in the previous summer transfer window.
According to the Daily Mail, Club Brugge are considering an approach to sign Glasgow Rangers winger Djeidi Gassama in the January transfer window.
The report claims that the Belgian side are ‘weighing up’ a potential bid for the French attacker, who signed for the Gers from Sheffield Wednesday for £2.2m last summer.
It adds that LaLiga outfit Villarreal are also showing an interest in the 22-year-old forward, who can play on the left or the right flank, which shows that there are multiple teams eyeing him up.
However, the Daily Mail does not reveal how much money it would take for Rangers to be tempted to part ways with the winger, less than a year on from signing him from Sheffield Wednesday.
The player Rangers should sign to replace Gassama
The Light Blues could afford to allow Gassama to move on from Ibrox already, though, if they sign a new winger to come in and take his place, freeing up space in the squad for a move to Club Brugge or Villarreal without making much of a dent in Rohl’s side.
In November, Rangers were one of the teams credited with an interest in Trencin winger Sani Suleiman, and they should act upon that interest to make him a replacement for Gassama.
Journalist Ben Jacobs claimed this week that the Slovakian side want a fee of around £5m for the young attacker, who is said to be wanted by Anderlecht, Sevilla, Frankfurt, and Spurs.
Rangers must jump in and attempt to win the race for the £5m-rated talent’s signature ahead of those teams, possibly with the lure of more regular game time and a platform to develop his talents before moving to a major European league in the future.
Analyst Ben Mattinson claimed that Suleiman has “been dominating defenders” in the Slovakian top-flight in the 2025/26 campaign, and his statistics in that division suggest that he could be an even better option than Gassama on the flank for the Gers.

As you can see in the table above, the Nigerian attacker, who dons the number 77 for Trencin, has scored more goals and created more ‘big chances’ than Gassama at league level this term, despite playing nine fewer games.
The Rangers attacker has only produced one goal and one assist in his last 18 appearances in all competitions for the club, per Sofascore, with his last goal for the club coming against Dundee at the start of November.
His inconsistency at the top end of the pitch may be a cause for concern for those in power at Ibrox, and interest from Club Brugge and Villarreal presents an interesting opportunity for them.
They could cash in now, possibly making a profit on the £2.2m they paid last summer, and avoid the risk of Gassama continuing to struggle for consistency moving forward, which could put off suitors in the future.
That is why signing Suleiman, who has shown that he could even be an immediate upgrade, in order to facilitate a sale for Gassama this month could be a shrewd move by the club.
Rangers could seal better signing than Chukwuani with “relentless” £9m star
This reported Rangers transfer target could be an even better signing for Danny Rohl than Tochi Chukwuani.
It is now down to Rangers to convince Suleiman to turn down interest from a host of top European clubs to win the race for his signature in the coming weeks.
