Tottenham targeted as possible move by Karim Adeyemi in “surprise” transfer

Tottenham have been earmarked as a potential destination by one highly-rated forward as manager Thomas Frank scours for new attacking options.

Spurs still need new forward after Conor Gallagher deal

The Lilywhites acted decisively by hijacking Aston Villa’s verbally agreed deal for Conor Gallagher earlier this week.

The 25-year-old, who was a long-time target for Ange Postecoglou, was believed to be closing in on a move to Villa Park before Spurs swooped in, offered more money and prised Gallagher out of Unai Emery’s clutches.

Under-fire Tottenham boss Frank apparently played a major role in securing Gallagher’s signature, and it was the Dane’s personal phone call that ultimately convinced him to choose a return to London.

After sealing Gallagher’s signature, not to mention a £13 million deal for Brazilian teenage sensation Souza from Santos, attention now turns to their glaring need for another forward.

Both Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison, Spurs’ arguable chief creators, remain absent through injury, even if the latter was filmed on the grass training alone recently.

Spurs have been very busy in the last few days.

Meanwhile, star winger Mohammed Kudus, who’s been their best attacking outlet since joining from West Ham last summer, will now be out until around April following his injury against Sunderland.

Frank’s plethora of injury problems have piled more pressure on the tactician who needs to win over large portions of the fanbase, coming after a torrid run of just three wins from their last 14 matches in all competitions.

Reports have suggested that a new forward is top of their priority list this month, and Spurs are even said to have made Antoine Semenyo a lucrative offer before he joined Man City.

A long list of wide players are being mentioned as potential targets, including the likes of Maghnes Akliouche, Yan Diomande, Christos Tzolis, Oscar Bobb, Savinho and Omar Marmoush.

Tottenham ‘targeted as a potential landing spot’ for Karim Adeyemi

Now, as per TEAMtalk reporter Dean Jones, a ‘new name’ has emerged on Spurs’ radar in the form of Borussia Dortmund sensation Karim Adeyemi.

Jones reports that the 23-year-old is keen to leave Dortmund this year, and Tottenham ‘have now been targeted as a potential landing spot’ by Adeyemi if he does quit the Bundesliga for England.

Spurs are alerted to the fact Adeyemi could be available in a ‘surprise’ move, as Jones calls it, even if he isn’t high on their list of targets.

Frank’s side, on their end, may consider a move if they’re given encouragement that it is in fact a serious opportunity.

The Germany international has played as a second striker, centre-forward and on the right wing this season, with Adeyemi’s versatility potentially very attractive to Frank.

In that time, he’s chalked up six goals and three assists in all competitions, adding to his significant tally of 32 goals and 22 assists in 130 appearances for Niko Kovac’s men.

Kovac himself is a huge admirer of Adeyemi, calling his attacker a genuinely ‘world-class’ forward.

That’s what he’s capable of,” Kovac said after Adeyemi’s performance in a 4-0 Champions League win over Villarreal.

“We have a very good relationship with him. I demand a lot of him because I know that he’s capable of a hell of a lot. He proved that again in today’s game.

“He should, must and can also do that in the upcoming games. I’m very happy about it. The lad has some real skills suitable to any team playing on the Bundesliga level. He’s a really absolute world class player.“
