Wimbledon is known for its strict all-white dress code for players. According to the tournament’s website, the players have to wear suitable tennis attire that is almost entirely white from the moment they enter the court.

“Competitors must be dressed in suitable tennis attire that is almost entirely white and this applies from the point at which the player enters the court surround,” the Wimbledon website mentions.

However, in 2023, the guidelines for tennis kits at Wimbledon were updated slightly, allowing female competitors to wear dark-colored shorts underneath their traditional all-white outfits to help alleviate the anxiety of players competing while menstruating.

“Women and girls competing at The Championships will have the option of wearing coloured undershorts if they choose. It is our hope that this rule adjustment will help players focus purely on their performance by relieving a potential source of anxiety,” the CEO of the All England Club, Sally Bolton said in a statement.
