Stardew Valley players are still learning the power their farmer has over the townspeople in Pelican Town, most recently when one fan discovered a facet of the resort on Ginger Island. It requires a lot of work on the part of the farmer to unlock Ginger Island for everyone to enjoy, and it turns out they have a little more control over that area than others.
Reddit user a_feral_housewife discovered that the farmer can shut down the resort on Ginger Island, effectively controlling the schedules of every Stardew Valley NPC. Despite playing for “YEARS,” they had never come across this before, and they’re not the only one. While it’s a familiar feature to some players, others are just now learning that you only need to request that the resort be closed by clicking between the men’s and women’s changing rooms to shut it down temporarily.

Keeping Villagers In Town Makes Life Easier
Shutting down the resort on Ginger Island can be pretty useful if timed properly, especially when trying to track down certain NPCs. Reddit user jimmythespider commented on the usefulness of closing Ginger Island’s top attraction, as it’s great “if you don’t want to make the trip to ginger island to find a specific villager”. Learning the daily schedules of everyone in town can be difficult, especially once the ferry is fixed and Willy starts shuttling NPCs to the resort.

As pointed out by Reddit user Time_Anything4488, “the farmer deserves to have that power considering they fixed the community center/built the joja ware house AND fixed the boat everyone uses to get to the island.”
