Anisimova is enjoying a fairytale run on grass this season. She began her campaign at the Queen’s Club Championships as the eighth seed, defeating Jodie Burrage and Sonay Kartal in the early rounds. The American then upset Emma Navarro in the quarterfinals and edged past top seed Zheng Qinwen in the semifinals before falling to German veteran Tatjana Maria in the final.
She also made a strong run at the Berlin Tennis Open, defeating former US Open champion Bianca Andreescu and Magdalena Fręch before falling in straight sets to Liudmila Samsonova in the quarterfinals.
The 23-year-old carried her momentum into Wimbledon, starting with a dominant 6-0, 6-0 win over Yulia Putintseva. She then got past Renata Zarazúa and Dalma Gálfi to reach the fourth round. She then shifted her focus to the SW19 and has impressed so far. The 34-year-old defeated
Ajla Tomljanović, 31st seed Ashlyn Krueger, four-time Major champion Naomi Osaka, and Kartal to reach the last eight of the coveted grass-court Major.
