We look at the moment Chelsea lifted the 2025 Club World Cup trophy alongside Donald Trump, and it was all quite surreal.
Enzo Maresca’s side produced a 3-0 victory at the MetLife Stadium with Cole Palmer scoring twice, then set up the third goal for new signing Joao Pedro.
Paris Saint-Germain had Joao Neves sent off for pulling Marc Cucurella’s hair. There was also a brawl on the pitch between the both sets of players with Joao Pedro on the ground. See that in the Twitter video below…
Chelsea’s win, watched by 81,118 fans including US President Donald Trump and Fifa president Gianni Infantino, earned them approximately £90m.

Donald Trump was booed by the crowd during the national anthem and while presenting the trophy, remaining prominently in view as Chelsea captain Reece James lifted the trophy, and players looking on baffled as he stayed with them.
Palmer spoke about Donald Trump staying for Chelsea’s trophy lift: “I knew he was going to be here but I didn’t know he was going to be on the stand when we lifted the trophy. I was a bit confused, yes.
Reece James, who was presented the trophy by Trump, added: “They told me that he was going to present the trophy and then exit the stage. I thought that he was going to exit the stage but he wanted to stay.”
Asked what Trump had said to him, James added: “To be honest, it was quite loud. I couldn’t hear too much.
“He just congratulated me and the team for lifting the trophy and told us to enjoy the moment.”
FIFA boss Gianni Infantino attempted to get the USA President to step away so Chelsea could lift the trophy… but ended up being caught in it instead, leaving Trump to awkwardly stand there.
Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer speaking to Dazn: “It’s a great feeling. Even better because everyone doubted us before the game, we knew that. To put a fight on like we did, it’s good.”
On his performances in big games: “I like finals. It’s happened again.”
On both his goals coming from the right: “The gaffer put a great gameplan out. He knew where the space was going to be. He tried to free me up as much as possible and I just had to repay him and score some goals.”
On manager Enzo Maresca: “He is building something special, something important. Everyone has talked a lot of (STUFF, LET’S SAY HE SAID STUFF) about us all season but I feel like we are going in the right direction.”

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca speaking to DAZN: “Today we found a position for him where there was space to attack.
“I’m happy for Cole but the effort from all the players has been fantastic.
“No words for the players,. They deserve it. It’s a good moment.
“For me, we won the game in the first 10 minutes. In the first 10 minutes we set the tempo for the way we want to play. We were very good.
“Unfortunately with the weather conditions it is not easy to do for 90 minutes, but I think we won the game in the first 10 minutes.
“Our future is very exciting. But I’m more excited for three weeks off!”
