Love it or hate it, J-Day is one of the few players making his own wave (queue Kid Cudi). The golf fashion scene is a lot more interesting when someone is causing disruption (think Jesper Parnevik and Rickie Fowler). The Malbon “King of Clubs” drop is giving us an actual theme—a cohesive storyline with cardigans, sweater vests, and statement graphics. It’s throwing “headliner energy,” not just a dude picking outfits off a hotel bed. Sure, the sweater isn’t for everyone (it may not even be for me), but I respect the creativity and the fact that he had a cardigan and a sweater vest with the playing card design. That’s the full measure.
The Payntr Moving Day kicks with the patent black leather mud guards were the perfect complement on a gloomy, rainy day.
Cameron Young (Peter Millar & FootJoy)
FootJoy’s Legends Series has been crushing Major SZN, and the Harris Tweed finale is the chef’s kiss. While the Black Watch Packard in 2021 has been highly featured in my rotation over the years, this year’s version with a navy, burgundy, and purple Tartan on the Packard and Field models is my new fave. Cam Young pairing them with Peter Millar’s understated staples gave the shoes room to breathe. This one is for the guy who appreciates a glass of Macallan and a perfectly folded pocket square.
Rickie Fowler (Puma Golf x Reigning Champ)
Another killer collab that dropped just in time for the opening tee shots was the Field to Fairway Collection from Puma Golf and Reigning Champ. From pitch to pin, this collab hits different. Puma taps into its deep soccer roots, Reigning Champ brings the luxe-athleisure feels, and together they’ve cooked up a limited drop that blends sport codes with serious off-course swagger. Think iconic shapes, elevated materials, and crossover energy that plays just as hard in the street as it does on the first tee.
Puma is on a heater right now when it comes to collabs, but Rickie hasn’t been one to wear many of them in competition. This capsule made the cut, though. I’m stoked to see him wearing it on a major stage.
Justin Thomas (Greyson Clothiers & FootJoy)
JT in a cardigan at The Open is practically tradition at this point. His take this year was more refined—buttoned-up, yes, but not stiff. The lower cut of the neckline also gave us a peek at Greyson’s limited-edition Ghost Dreamer polo with a tiny wolf-head foulard pattern. It looks like an ’80s necktie you’d find in your dad’s closet—but in a good way. Like, steal-it-for-yourself good.
Rory McIlroy (Nike Golf)
If we’re power-ranking sweater guys in golf, Rory is top-tier. The man’s knitwear game is so strong that it makes you want to raid his closet. Now, if the rest of us golfing mortals could get access to Rory’s collection of cashmere.
Viktor Hovland (J.Lindeberg)
J.Lindeberg’s Tour Collection for The Open was inspired by Giant’s Causeway, a wild stretch of about 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, mostly hexagonal, formed by volcanic activity about 50 to 60 million years ago. This icy blue is a focal point of the collection, and it sings against the brooding Northern Irish skies. High concept meets high performance, and Vik made it look effortless.
Ben Griffin (Holderness & Bourne &FootJoy)
Yes, you already own navy. But this shade? Holderness calls it “Andover.” We call it “fall essential.” It’s the kind of steely blue that upgrades everything around it. Pair with white, grey, or deep oxblood for peak autumn energy.
Matteo Manaserro (Chervo & FootJoy)
Green for fall? Yes, please. But not Masters green—save that for April. This is emerald, forest, jewel-tone goodness. Moody and rich, like a late-afternoon tee time with a whisky waiting at 18.
Joaquin Niemann (Stuburt & Adidas)
Jaco might just be the best-dressed player on LIV. (You’ll have to tell me because I’m not watching.) The man understands color coordination like few others—subtle pairings, clean silhouettes, always pulled together. What Hideki tries to do, Niemann actually does.
Tom McKibbin (Greyson Clothiers & Adidas)
I’ll be right back. I need to check my closet. I think Tommy Mac stole one of my favorite fits.
Justin Leonard (B. Draddy & FootJoy)
Call it dadcore. Call it country club classic. Leonard’s look was straight-up dapper. Clean lines and a “less is more” vibe that worked.
Harris English (Onward Reserve & FootJoy)
Big v-necks are back. Don’t @ me. English brought that slightly oversized, ‘90s throwback flavor with matching FJ saddle shoes—and made it look fresh, not frumpy.
