A’ja Wilson, Breanna Stewart Hilariously Pick the 1 WNBA Player Who Wouldn’t Survive in A Horror Movie

The question seemed innocent enough: Which WNBA player would survive a horror movie? But when Complex Sports asked this during the All-Star Weekend Orange Carpet ceremony, the league’s biggest stars didn’t hesitate to throw their teammates and rivals under the bus. The answers revealed just as much about friendships and rivalries as any on-court drama this season.

WNBA Stars All Throw One Fellow Player Under The Bus

On July 17, WNBA All-Star Weekend festivities kicked off with an Orange Carpet arrival ceremony. All of the league’s top players, including A’ja Wilson, Breanna Stewart, Napheesa Collier, and Angel Reese, showed off their outfits to the media while answering questions.

During the event, Complex Sports got the opportunity to interview all of the league’s top stars with a hilarious twist on the normal interview format. They questioned which player would survive in a horror film and who would be the first to go.

“Who would survive in a horror movie? Alisha Gray, maybe,” Stewart responded. But when asked who would die first, the Liberty star didn’t hesitate to throw her teammate under the bus: “Sab, she gets scared a lot.”

The playful jab at Sabrina Ionescu came just days after Stewart made headlines for her competitive comments about facing her Liberty teammate in the All-Star game. With the two players drafted on opposing teams for the event, Stewart has been building up the rivalry.

How Competitive Is Breanna Stewart Getting About All-Star Weekend?

“Yeah, I’m gonna trap her. Where is she? Full-court press on Sab in the All-Star Game,” Stewart revealed in an earlier post-game interview. While the comment drew laughs, anyone who knows Stewart’s competitive nature understands she’s only half-joking.

Stewart is making her seventh All-Star appearance, while Ionescu is making her fourth. Both players are coming off career-defining performances this season, with Ionescu averaging 18.7 points through 20 games, her sixth in the league.

Despite the fighting words from her teammate in the buildup to the event, the four-time All-Star didn’t argue against Stewart’s assessment when questioned about who would die first in a horror movie and who would survive the ordeal.

“Stewie would survive because she loves those types of movies and books. I would definitely go first, because I don’t,” Ionescu explained when questioned, backing her teammate’s claim and proving how well the two know each other.

Meanwhile, Ionescu wasn’t the only one to back her Liberty teammate to survive in a horror film. Las Vegas Aces star and seven-time All-Star Wilson also backed the fellow seven-time All-Star to survive, making her the most popular pick among WNBA players.

“Stewie, Stewie would survive in some crazy stuff,” Wilson explained, before revealing who she believed would die first. “The first one to die? Alisha Gray and I will probably be right there with her,” the Aces star explained before bursting into laughter.

The consensus among the WNBA stars was clear: Team captain Collier and Stewart would be the most likely to survive, with Stewart’s teammate Ionescu getting the most votes for who would die first. The twist? Ionescu voted for herself, adding to the laughter and showing the camaraderie that makes All-Star Weekend special.
