Taylor Fritz and Elena Rybakina Get Honest About Each Other After Deciding To Partner at US Open

Tennis stars Taylor Fritz and Elena Rybakina are gearing up for an exciting collaboration at the 2025 US Open mixed doubles event, and both players have expressed their enthusiasm for the new partnership. In a series of recent comments, the two revealed what inspired the decision and what fans can expect when they hit the court together during Fan Week.

Inside the $1 Million Mixed Doubles Event at US Open Fan Week

The United States Tennis Association (USTA) is dialing up the energy for this year’s Fan Week at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, set for Aug. 19 and 20. The marquee event, a star-studded mixed doubles exhibition with a staggering $1 million prize pool, will feature 16 high-profile ATP-WTA pairings.

Among the top-billed duos are Carlos Alcaraz with Emma Raducanu, Naomi Osaka with Nick Kyrgios, and Iga Świątek with Casper Ruud. The partnership of Fritz and Rybakina is particularly generating buzz, especially after their impressive showing at the Eisenhower Cup earlier this year.

Reflecting on their decision to team up again, Fritz said he’s long been a fan of mixed doubles and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to play alongside the 2022 Wimbledon champion. “I always enjoy playing mixed doubles,” he shared in a video posted to X.

“I feel like I’ve been pretty vocal about that. I really like playing mixed doubles, like events where we get to play, you know, Olympics, United Cup, stuff like that. I’ve always been excited to play.”

Explaining why he chose Rybakina as his partner, Fritz added, “We won Tie Break Tens. I thought she played great, so I wanted to lock up a really good partner early.”

Rybakina, for her part, is equally excited about the opportunity, especially given the tournament’s timing just ahead of the singles draw. “He has such a good game that I think it would be nice to play at the US Open,” she said. “And especially now it’s a little bit changed, it’s before singles starts, so I feel like it’s also good preparation for the singles.”

Their chemistry on court was already evident during the Eisenhower Cup in March at Indian Wells, where they captured the title after defeating top teams, including the defending champions Ben Shelton and Emma Navarro, and pocketing a $200,000 prize.

Taylor Fritz and Elena Rybakina Set for Action in Washington

Fritz and Rybakina are both set to compete at the ongoing Mubadala Citi DC Open. Fritz, the tournament’s top seed and a 2023 semifinalist, received a first-round bye and is scheduled to face Aleksandar Vukic in the second round. On the women’s side, Rybakina, seeded third, is making her debut in Washington and will open her campaign against Victoria Mboko after also receiving a first-round bye.

In addition to singles, Rybakina is participating in doubles alongside Raducanu. The duo scored an impressive win over fourth seeds Tereza Mihalíková and Olivia Nicholls to advance to the quarterfinals, where they’ll take on Giuliana Olmos and Aldila Sutjiadi.
