Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is one of the most popular shows on television screens, having managed to keep audiences entertained with its comedy for 17 years. The long-running comedy show has officially completed 17 years on television, and the cast and crew came together in Mumbai to celebrate the same. Asit Kumar Modi, the creator and producer of the show, was also in attendance.
Asit Modi on replacing Dayaben…
While speaking to the media, Asit Modi acknowledged fans’ curiosity around Dayaben’s return in the show. He also shared an update about replacing her. He said how irreplaceable Disha Vakani’s portrayal of Dayaben is and added that the level at which Daya performed makes it extremely hard to find someone like her. He further said that he feels it is almost impossible to find another Dayaben. Asit said that if it is in God’s will, then maybe someone suitable will come along and he will surely bring Dayaben back.
Dilip Joshi on his bond with co-star Disha Vakani
Dilip Joshi, who plays the role of Jethalal in the show, spoke about his bond with Disha Vakani, who portrayed Dayaben. Dilip shared, “We have worked from 2008 to 2017, so I definitely miss her. It was a long time, and we did some iconic scenes together. Both of us are from a theatre background, so our chemistry was quite good since day one. Personally, as a co-actor, I miss her a lot, because the scenes were very enjoyable with her.”
Asit Modi on casting a new face for Dayaben
The producer said that casting a new face for Dayaben is not easy. He said that audiences have Disha’s image deeply rooted in their hearts, and it is a challenge to bring someone new. He said that they keep trying, but something always gets in the way.
Disha’s real and reel brother, Mayur Vakani, who is known as Sundarlal on the show, got emotional during the event. He spoke about Disha’s absence from the show and expressed how much he misses sharing screen space with her.
