Frances Tiafoe’s girlfriend, Ayan Broomfield, is currently in Toronto for the American’s campaign at the 2025 Canadian Open. She recently recounted an unusual encounter in which she was offered psychedelic drugs while strolling through the streets in the city.
Tiafoe and Broomfield have been together for nearly a decade, having begun their relationship in 2015 and making it public in 2018. Broomfield, a Toronto native, is a social media and fashion influencer and a former tennis player.
During her collegiate tennis career, the 27-year-old first represented Clemson University and later played for the UCLA Bruins at the University of California, Los Angeles. She also competed on the WTA Tour, participating in the doubles event alongside compatriot Maria Patrascu at the 2014 Coupe Banque Nationale.

Tiafoe’s girlfriend, Broomfield, is enjoying her time at home in Toronto while he prepares for his campaign at the 2025 Canadian Open. She recently shared a video on social media of herself walking through the streets of her city. In the video, she described Toronto as one of the “top three cities” in the entire world.
“Toronto is like the top three cities in the entire world. I’ve been walking about 45 minutes… Guys, I thought he was giving me a coupon to his restaurant. No no no no no this is not a real place,” Broomfield said in the video.
During the video, the social media influencer had an unexpected encounter with a man whose identity she chose not to disclose. He attempted to sell her psychedelic drugs.
Broomfield explained that she initially thought he was approaching her with coupons for his restaurant, so she was taken aback when he unexpectedly pitched his offer for psychedelic drugs in broad daylight.
“Please wait until the end ,” Broomfield captioned her Instagram story.
“He’s handing out $5 off psychedelic drugs coupons in the middle of the street… mind you it 1pm on a Monday,” she added.

On the tennis side, Tiafoe recently competed at the 2025 Citi DC Open, where he triumphed over Aleksandar Kovacevic and Flavio Cobolli before being eliminated by Ben Shelton in the quarterfinals.
At the 2025 Canadian Open, Tiafoe will compete in singles and doubles events. Last year, he lost in the first round to Alejandro Tabilo at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament.

Watanuki earned his spot in the main draw of the ATP Masters 1000 hard court tournament in Canada by overcoming Dalibor Svrčina in a qualifying match, winning 7-6(2), 1-6, 6-4. In the first round of the main draw, he faced Daniel Altmaier and emerged victorious with a scoreline of 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.
Tiafoe and Watanuki have met twice on the ATP Tour, with each player claiming one victory. Their most recent encounter took place in the third round of the 2025 BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells, where the Japanese triumphed with a score of 6-4, 7-6(6).
The winner of the second-round match between Tiafoe and Watanuki at the 2025 Canadian Open will advance to face either Aleksandar Vukic or 31st seed Cameron Norrie in the third round.
In addition to his singles campaign in Toronto, Tiafoe will also participate in the doubles event, partnering with fellow American Alex Michelsen. They will face the Canadian wild card team of Gabriel Diallo and Alexis Galarneau in the first round.
The winner of this match will advance to the second round, where they will compete against either the fourth-seeded pair of Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz or the duo of Casper Ruud and Pedro Martínez.
