India, led by Shubman Gill, clinched a thrilling 6-run victory over England on the final day (Monday, August 4) of the fifth and final Test of the series at the Kennington Oval in London. The Men in Blue finished the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy on a high note as the five-match series ended in a 2-2 draw.
England resumed the final day at 339/6, with Jamie Smith (2) and Jamie Overton (0) at the crease. The home team began aggressively, hitting boundaries on the first two balls and reducing the target to 27 runs. However, they lost a wicket in the next over as Mohammed Siraj provided the breakthrough.

Mohammed Siraj dismissed Jamie Smith for 2. Smith edged a delivery that moved away outside off, and Dhruv Jurel took a sharp low catch behind the stumps. Siraj nearly struck again when Gus Atkinson edged a delivery just short of KL Rahul at second slip.

However, Siraj soon removed Jamie Overton with a sharp nip-backer that trapped him lbw for 9. The ball was only clipping leg stump, and the on-field decision stayed with the umpire’s call, leaving England at 354/8.
England were bowled out for 367, despite brilliant centuries from Joe Root (105) and Harry Brook (111). Siraj took five wickets, while Prasidh Krishna provided crucial support with four scalps.

India Bounce Back With the Bat in the Second Innings
England, led by Ollie Pope, opted to bowl first in the fifth Test. India stumbled early, collapsing to 33 for 2 following the dismissals of Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul. Karun Nair, making his comeback, held the innings together with a solid 57. However, India lost their last four wickets for just 6 runs.
Gus Atkinson was the standout bowler for England, claiming 5 wickets for 33 runs to bundle India out for 224. In reply, openers Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley provided a strong foundation with a 92-run partnership.
India’s pacers hit back in the second session. Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna took four wickets each to bowl England out for 247, giving the hosts a narrow 23-run lead.
In India’s second innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal led the charge with a superb 118. Akash Deep, Ravindra Jadeja, and Washington Sundar each contributed valuable fifties. Sundar added 39 runs with Prasidh Krishna for the final wicket, helping India reach a competitive total of 396.
