Netflix’s One Piece Drops Rare Usopp Easter Egg Ahead of Season 2

Out of the Straw Hats, Usopp is a character who often gets overlooked, but lately Netflix’s One Piece live-action adaptation has been having its fair share of fun when it comes to adapting the different outfits the pirates are depicted in. While not necessary for the show’s success, each new revelation has been a delight for fans to discover.

Based on the popular manga and anime by Eiichiro Oda, One Piece follows the story of Monkey D. Luffy as he aims to be King of the Pirates after discovering the elusive treasure hidden by the infamous Gold Roger. Netflix’s live-action adaptation has brought this franchise to a global audience with its new medium, extending the Straw Hat Pirates’ influence.

Netflix One Piece Promotional Art

While fans patiently wait for the second season of Netflix’s One Piece live-action adaptation, the official X account dropped a new promotional image of the Straw Hats in their latest costumes. Faithful readers and anime viewers have been able to pinpoint the inspiration behind Nami’s and Sanji’s outfits, but only the most dedicated of fans have spotted Usopp’s niche reference.

On Jacob Romero’s right arm, he’s depicted with three colorful gadgets on his upper forearm. Although some people have assumed that these must be modified G-Shock watches or early prototypes of Skypeia’s dial technology, we likely won’t see any hide or shell of such items for quite a few seasons. The detail actually originates from the Color Walk Compendium.

One Piece Color Walk Usopp Watches

One Piece’s Color Walks are a collection of books that include colored page spreads, volume covers, and exclusive Shōnen Jump covers. Usopp’s outfit detail is from the first volume of the Color Walk Compendium, though the watches were positioned higher up on his arm in the art.

From sneaking in early characters within the first few scenes in episode #1 to recreating entire outfits directly from the manga or anime, Netflix’s One Piece costume department is clearly having fun trying to cram as many references for fans to discover. Highlighting Usopp in the latest promotional art is a nice change when he’s often overlooked in the anime.

With the second season set to debut in early 2026, there’s no doubt that Netflix’s One Piece live-action will include more easter eggs from the anime for fans to pinpoint down to the chapter. It’s the details that are included from the source materials that contribute to the continued success of the adaptation, where other live-action’s have failed.
