Delta Force Hits New Peak Concurrent Player Count After Season 5 Update

Only a few short weeks after the beginning of its new in-game season, Delta Force quietly set a new bar for itself with a new peak concurrent player count on Steam. The free-to-play first-person shooter arrived on PC near the beginning of 2025, came to mobile a few months later, and is now set to release on consoles in August.

After the arrival of its fifth in-game season of live-service content, Delta Force reached 198,809 concurrent players, setting a new record for the game, according to data from SteamDB. Interestingly, the record was set on July 27, over two weeks after Delta Force Season 5 began on July 10. This doesn’t, of course, account for those playing concurrently on mobile platforms as well, so the actual figure is likely well over that 200,000-player milestone.

A Consistent Performer

It’s not uncommon for new updates to bring renewed interest in a game, but Delta Force‘s new record concurrent player count isn’t much of an anomaly. The game has seen steady growth throughout the year, and has peaked at over 150,000 players almost every day since the beginning of June. It’s frequently among the most played games on Steam, right next to giants like Counter-Strike 2 and the currently very popular Battlefield 6 open beta.

If the player count is to be believed, Delta Force‘s fifth season, called Break, may be the best yet. It brings a wide range of new content to the game, including maps, weapons, a unique character, and vehicles. Originally revealed as Delta Force: Hawk Ops, the game seems to be poised for continued success.

F2P & Growing In Popularity

Entering the crowded live-service market is tough, but Delta Force importantly has a lot of momentum. Even simply appearing in Steam’s most-played charts is important for the game keeping its relevance. Some novel gameplay features helped it establish itself as an alternative to Call of Duty and Battlefield, and its free-to-play status is likely to keep it alive for some time.

The only concern at the moment comes from its Steam reviews, where it has a mixed reception – only 61% of its total user reviews are positive. This appears to be largely because of cheaters, despite the game instituting kernel-level anti-cheat systems. Still, consistently approaching 200,000 players daily on Steam alone is quite the feat.

Its upcoming console release is likely to be a major stepping stone for the game. If it includes crossplay, and PS5 and Xbox users have to deal with cheaters as well, it could be troublesome for the port. The gameplay clearly has a lot of appeal, though, and since it’s free-to-play, Delta Force is likely to continue growing in popularity for the time being since it’s about to be on more platforms.
