Helldivers 2 Dust Devil Warbond Weapons Include Dangerous Expendable Napalm Launcher

The constant introduction of new content to Helldivers 2 continues with the upcoming Dust Devils Warbond, which includes a stratagem that’s likely to get on your nerves. Dust Devils will drop shortly after the game’s Xbox launch and the highly anticipated Halo ODST crossover, which saw the first Legendary Warbond added to Helldivers 2.

The Dust Devils Warbond will be released on September 4, and among its menagerie of new weapons and armor is a new stratagem that’s almost guaranteed to annoy some Helldivers. The EAT-700 Expendable Napalm appears to work exactly like the Expendable Anti-Tank rocket launcher, but its payload delivers a significant burst of napalm over the target area. Napalm is already effective, especially against the Terminids, but the Orbital Napalm Barrage in particular has a notorious reputation for being a nuisance.

The EAT-700 Expendable Napalm Is Going To Cause Chaos In Helldivers 2

While the exact details aren’t yet known, the EAT-700 Expendable Napalm will likely work the same as the EAT-17 Expendable Anti-Tank stratagem, which calls in two single-fire rocket launchers with a very short cooldown of 70 seconds (under 60 seconds with certain ship modules). The Expendable Anti-Tank has been reliable since Helldivers 2 launched early last year, but equipping it with napalm might frequently inconvenience your squad.

Over-zealous Orbital Napalm Barrage users already have a habit of calling it in on objectives that could be cleared without it – a Napalm Barrage keeps Helldivers from entering a Terminid nest and blowing up its tunnels, for instance. Give someone two napalm-loaded rockets every minute, and they’re likely to block off all sorts of important routes for their squad mates. Like the team-killing ARC Guard Dog, the Expendable Napalm is likely to add more chaos to Helldivers 2‘s already bombastic gameplay.

The Expendable Napalm is, of course, not alone in the new Dust Devils Warbond – it’s not even the only new stratagem. The S-11 Speargun fires harpoons that release a gas cloud upon impact, and the M5-11 Solo Silo is a targeting designator for a Hellpod-sized missile silo dropped in from orbit. Here’s a table detailing every new item in the Dust Devils Warbond:

The AR-2 Coyote appears to be a rather traditional assault rifle, clearly modeled after the real-life AK line. The G-7 Pineapple is a cluster grenade that releases multiple explosions when it’s thrown. Both new armor sets come with the new Desert Stormer passive ability, which seems pretty powerful, granting resistance to fire, gas, acid, and arc, while also increasing your throwing range.

Overall, the Dust Devils Warbond is shaping up nicely, with some very interesting additions in the Speargun and Solo Silo. The new passive increasing throwing range, in addition to its other benefits, feels like it might make the Servo-Assisted passive obsolete, but only time will tell. Napalm is already notorious, though, so the Expendable Napalm may be more of an annoyance than its worth when it comes to Helldivers 2.
