August 30th: Saturday’s Premier League Double – 8/1 Special, Betting Tips & Predictions

SoccerNews Daily Double

With another stacked Premier League schedule getting underway on Saturday lunchtime, we have six top-flight showdowns pencilled in from up and down the country.

Alongside west London bragging rights being up for grabs when Chelsea welcome Fulham to Craven Cottage, Manchester United will steal centre stage following their infamous EFL Cup exit earlier in the week.

Ahead of a stacked Saturday afternoon of Premier League action, we have taken a glance at some of the most appealing betting tips.

12:30 Chelsea vs Fulham

While Chelsea might have got the new campaign underway with a downbeat 0-0 stalemate at home against Crystal Palace earlier in the month, Enzo Maresca’s men came roaring back in a sensational fashion last weekend. Putting in what was a dominant performance away at historic rivals West Ham as they cruised their way to a 5-1 romp in west London, the former Leicester boss will be dreaming of a repeat display here. Making real history over in the United States on July 13th as they clinched a 3-0 victory against French giants PSG, some have even billed Chelsea as a potential title dark horse this season. Looking to lay down another marker this weekend, the Blues have also gained a fearsome reputation for their continued dominance on home soil. In fact, Maresca’s camp have not suffered a single domestic defeat at Stamford Bridge so far this calendar year.

Although Fulham might have mounted another late comeback last weekend as they snatched a 1-1 stalemate at home against Manchester United, the Cottagers will feel that they missed out on a golden opportunity. Largely struggling to find any kind of stability on either side of the summer break, there has been plenty of speculation that Marco Silva is growing frustrated at Craven Cottage. Despite extending on their EFL Cup adventure earlier in the week as they claimed a 2-0 victory against Championship outfit Bristol City, the former Everton boss has seen his squad muster just a trio of wins from any of their previous 12 showdowns against Premier League opposition – a run that stems all the way back to March 16th. It should also be highlighted, falling to a 2-1 defeat when they last met their west London rivals on April 20th, they have lost four of their previous five meetings against Chelsea.

15:00 Tottenham vs Bournemouth

While Ange Postecoglou might have ended Tottenham’s 17-year wait for a piece of silverware back in May as Spurs were crowned Europa League champions thanks to a famous 1-0 victory against Manchester United in Bilbao, that result was not enough to save the former Celtic boss from the chop. However, despite only getting a new era underway over the summer, Saturday’s hosts have enjoyed a sensational start to life under Thomas Frank’s guidance. With a lucrative Champions League return set on the horizon, the ex-Brentford manager should find the mood in his camp at a red-hot high. Laying down what was a heavyweight marker last weekend as they clinched a deserved 2-0 victory away at Manchester City, Tottenham have rightfully received a string of plaudits. Getting the new campaign underway earlier in the month with a routine 3-0 win against Premier League returners Brentford, Spurs are one of just three clubs who can boast a 100% start to proceedings.

Although Bournemouth might have impressed many last season as they eventually fell short in the race to book a famous European adventure, Andoni Iraola’s camp have largely failed to find any real fluidity on either side of the summer interval. Watching their EFL Cup campaign come to an abrupt end on Tuesday night as they slumped to a disappointing 2-0 defeat at home against Brentford, Saturday’s guests have lost two of their first three appearances across all competitions. Failing to notch consecutive Premier League victories since the end of January, the Cherries should also be concerned by what is a downbeat record in north London. Despite snatching a thrilling 2-2 stalemate when they travelled to Spurs back on March 9th, they have mustered just a single win from any of their eight historic trips to the reigning Europa League winners.
