United States 2025 Ryder Cup Team (Lowdown On The USA Team)

The United States Ryder Cup team for 2025 has been named with Keegan Bradley refusing the chance to name himself as a playing captain at Bethpage.

The final 12 for the USA is made up of six automatic qualifiers and six wildcards chosen by Bradley, who opted against giving himself a place on the team.

The six automatic qualifiers were locked in after the 2025 BMW Championship on August 17 and Bradley selected his final six members as wildcard picks on August 27.

World number one Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele and rookie JJ Spaun were the first three to book their spots, while Russell Henley, Bryson DeChambeau and Harris English claimed the remaining three automatic places.

The wildcard votes went to the Ryder Cup experience of Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, Patrick Cantlay and Sam Burns, while rookies Ben Griffin and Cameron Young will make their debuts.

The lowdown on the 12 men representing the United States as part of the two 2025 Ryder Cup teams.

United States 2025 Ryder Cup Team

Scottie Scheffler

Scottie Scheffler qualified by finishing first on the US Ryder Cup points list, thanks to major wins in the USPGA Championship and Open Championship in 2025.

The world number one was a consistent high performer on the PGA Tour, including winning the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, Memorial Tournament and BMW Championship this year.

This is Scheffler’s third Ryder Cup and he holds a record of two wins, two losses and three ties in 7 matches for a 50% points percentage.

JJ Spaun

JJ Spaun secured his first Ryder Cup selection after winning the 2025 US Open and posting strong results throughout 2024-2025. He is a rookie, with no prior Ryder Cup experience.

Xander Schauffele

Xander Schauffele finished third in points, earning automatic qualification despite a struggle for top form in 2025.

He has played in two Ryder Cups previously (2021, 2023) with four wins and four losses in eight matches for a 50% points percentage.

Russell Henley

Russell Henley qualified by strong performances and point accumulation throughout a solid 2025 season and will make his Ryder Cup debut.

Harris English

Harris English has been another solid performer, including two runner-up finishes in 2025 majors to help accumulate enough points to qualify in fifth place.

English making his second Ryder Cup appearance (previous in 2021). His Ryder Cup record is one win and two losses from three matches (33.33%).

Bryson DeChambeau

Bryson DeChambeau returns for his third Ryder Cup after finishing sixth in qualifying on the back of his performances in majors, given he is a LIV Tour player.

In his previous Ryder Cups, he has two wins, three losses, and one tie from six matches (41.67% points percentage).

Justin Thomas

Justin Thomas was handed a captain’s pick and selected for his match-play experience and leadership as a stalwart of the United States team in recent years.

He has played in three previous Ryder Cups, winning seven, losing four and tying two of his 13 matches (61.53% points percentage).

Collin Morikawa

Collin Morikawa makes his third Ryder Cup team via a captain’s pick. He previously played in 2021 and 2023, recording four wins, three losses, and one tie in eight matches (56.25%).

Ben Griffin

Griffin is a rookie and was given a pick following strong showings in 2025 PGA events. He will compete in his first Ryder Cup.

Cameron Young

Cameron Young earned his pick after breakout PGA Tour performances in 2024-2025 including finally tasting victory in the recent Wyndham Championship.

He is another rookie and has no Ryder Cup history, but has won at Bethpage previously as an amateur.

Patrick Cantlay

Patrick Cantlay returns as a captain’s pick, having played in two Ryder Cups in 2021 and 2023. The latter was, of course, “hat gate” when he refused to wear a baseball cap in Rome.

His past record is five wins, two losses and one tie in eight matches (62.5% record)

Sam Burns

Sam Burns, previously on the 2023 team that lost in Italy, was the last captain’s pick and was handed his spot thanks to a late season run of form.

Burns has played three matches with one win and two losses (33.33%).
