The Battlefield 6 beta’s second weekend adds new playlists, and a Custom Search feature that’s missing the one thing we care about

The second and final weekend of the Battlefield 6 beta has officially kicked off, giving everyone another chance to spend a few more days with the game’s explosive multiplayer action. We’ve known that this second portion would include new content – such as the new map and modes – but DICE also had a few other tweaks lined up

Some of the new additions are fairly standard; even predictable, but others reveal something about where the development team’s head is at.

With the arrival of the Empire State map, and the addition of Rush, and Squad Deathmatch game modes, the list of possible options has grown. To facilitate this, the Battlefield 6 beta’s homepage will offer a rotating set of playlists that mix maps and modes.

This will change for every day of the beta, but don’t expect every playlist/combo to be available for each day. More interesting than the new playlists themselves, however, is the Custom Search feature.

This isn’t a server browser in the traditional sense – though DICE does seem to hint at one being in the works. Instead, it’s a feature that lets you pick the maps and modes you want to play on, and exclude those you don’t. You can even stick it to just one of each, such as when you want a 24/7 version of your favourite meatgrinder.

There are a few things worth noting about Custom Search, however. For one, it does not guarantee you’re going to end up in matches that fit your parameters. The system will only prioritise your choices, but if it takes too long to find a match, you’ll be thrown into one that may not fit them.

It’s also worth knowing that, for some reason, this feature only takes into account Open Weapon modes, meaning you can’t select Closed Weapon modes at all within it.

It is well worth having a look at the schedule of daily playlist rotations – listed below. Not only will it tell you what to expect for each day of the beta, there are some bizarre inconsistencies about which modes are considered for which banner and so on.
