In the year 2025, it seems like Bryson DeChambeau just can’t stay out of the headlines in the golf world. Fresh off a cameo in “Happy Gilmore 2” and the release of his Breaking 50 video with Happy Gilmore himself, Adam Sandler, DeChambeau is again making waves this week. But this time it’s for a moment he might want back. A viral video caught DeChambeau complaining to a LIV official about negative hecklers at the most recent LIV tournament in England.
Here’s what you need to know.
Bryson bemoans negative fans at LIV Golf UK
Bryson DeChambeau put together a respectable if unremarkable result at last week’s LIV event, LIV Golf UK, the first tournament after his spectacular comeback performance at the 2025 Open Championship at Royal Portrush.
At Portrush, DeChambeau recovered brilliantly from a disastrous opening-round 78 to finish T10 at nine under, highlighted by a final-round 64.
At LIV Golf UK — played at JCB Golf & Country Club in Rochester, England — the two-time U.S. Open champion finished T11. In 10 LIV events so far in 2025, he’s finished T11 or better eight times, including a win at LIV Golf Korea in May.
DeChambeau’s Crushers GC finished T4 at JCB Golf & Country Club.
But one fan caught a moment of frustration from the league’s biggest star during one of his rounds in England.
In the video originally posted by @amzmel93 on TikTok and re-posted by the @NUCLRGOLF X account, DeChambeau can be seen walking near a spectator area on the way to his ball following a shot. Mid-stride, he approaches an unknown LIV official whose back is toward the camera and complains about some negative comments he heard from fans on the course.
“I love the banter up there,” DeChambeau begins, “but they can’t be saying miss it, they can’t be saying miss it, miss it, miss it.”
It’s unclear what specific incident raised DeChambeau’s ire, and after unleashing his complaint, he continued walking without receiving an audible reply from the LIV official.
DeChambeau and the 2025 Ryder Cup
DeChambeau has a full schedule a LIV events laid out for August as the league’s 2025 season nears its end.
With two regular tournaments left followed by the team championship at LIV Golf Michigan at the end of the month, DeChambeau and his team are in the mix for the season-long titles.
Bryson currently ranks third in the LIV individual standings behind Joaquin Niemann and Jon Rahm. His Crushers GC team is second behind only Rahm’s Legion XIII team.
Once the LIV season concludes, DeChambeau has one other massive event on his schedule: the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black.
At fifth in the U.S. Ryder Cup rankings, DeChambeau is a lock for the team and will be expected to carry a big weight in the biennial competition.
At the Open Championship, Bryson talked about the impact he planned to have on the U.S. team at Bethpage.
“I hope I can bring a lot of energy…” he said at Royal Portrush. “And a tsunami of a crowd that’s going to be rooting for Team USA.”
Given the boisterous home crowd expected at Bethpage, DeChambeau shouldn’t have to worry about hecklers and negative comments from fans as the Americans take on the reigning-champion European team. However, New York fans are notorious for booing their own players when they fail to perform, so he’ll have to play well to avoid any criticism at the Ryder Cup.
