As a Canada Travel Specialist, I love to explore different regions of Canada to further my knowledge and expertise, so I can assist my clients with amazing travel experiences.
Exploring Ontario was a spectacular surprise. Each destination offered something uniquely special, and truthfully, I’d struggle to pick a favourite. From iconic cities to charming towns, Ontario was a journey full of wow moments, warm hospitality, and a few unexpected highlights I’m still thinking about.
Getting There
I travelled with Air Canada, flying from Sydney to Vancouver direct and then connecting on to Toronto (or “Trono”, as the locals say!). It was a seamless experience, especially through Vancouver Airport, where you don’t need to collect your luggage during the transfer. Everything is handled through to your final stop, making the journey much easier than typical domestic re-checks.
Clearing customs in Vancouver was also a breeze. Passport scan, a few questions at the kiosk, boarding pass check, and I was through. We had a pre-booked transfer to Niagara Falls, which I absolutely recommend, especially if arriving during rush hour in Toronto. The 90-minute drive was smooth and far less stressful than trying to navigate it ourselves.
Where I Stayed
Niagara Falls – Sheraton Fallsview Hotel
This was my favourite hotel of the trip. The views of the Falls are everything. The location is unbeatable, and the comforts were next-level. From newly renovated rooms, cloud-soft beds, a fabulous spa, and an Italian restaurant led by a celebrity chef. Bonus: a Starbucks right downstairs for those early risers!
Toronto – Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel
Perfectly located in the financial district and a short walk to entertainment, attractions and dining. I loved the pet-friendly atmosphere (so many cute dogs!) and the 43rd-floor Club Lounge with panoramic views across the city, including the CN Tower.
Kingston – Delta Hotels Kingston Waterfront
A cosy, lakeside hotel that instantly felt like a home away from home. With a “Feast-On” certified restaurant (AquaTerra) and the best location for exploring this charming city, it’s the perfect base for your Kingston adventures, including ghost tours!
Ottawa – Embassy Hotel & Suites
This all-suite hotel in downtown Ottawa is newly renovated and offers full kitchens and private balconies. Just a short walk from the lovely Elgin Street, it’s ideal for couples, families, or anyone wanting more space and comfort.
