REVIEW – Since having children and pets, we have never really been lamp people.  Avoiding them was an easy choice and one less thing for them to knock over and break.  However, with the kids getting older and lets be honest, my eyesight getting worse, there are parts of rooms in our home that are a little darker than others and could use some extra light.  One pf these dark spots is the corner with my favorite reading chair.  So, when EDISHINE offered to send over a few of their lighting options for review, I spotted the rattan floor lamp and knew that would look great in that corner.  Now that it is here, find out what I think about it.

Design and features

The EDISHINE Rattan Floor Lamp offers a variety of desirable design features.  For starters, there are 3 ways to style the lamp shade, allowing you to mix and match as you like.  You can choose to use the linen lampshade, the rattan lampshade, or the combo using both the linen and rattan lampshade layers together.  Personally, I like the look of the combo using both lampshades.

The EDISHINE Rattan Floor Lamp features an adjustable hinge, allowing you to adjust the light where you need it most.  The hinge allows the bulb and lampshade to rotate 340° horizontally and tilt up to 90° vertically.

The EDISHINE Rattan Floor Lamp has a foot pedal button to turn on and off, along with a remote control.  To use your remote, the foot button needs to be pressed in the ON position.  While the foot pedal is a nice touch, for me I can’t see myself ever needing to use it and plan on just using the remote.

As I mentioned earlier, the main feature of the EDISHINE Rattan Floor Lamp is that it offers 5 color temperatures and 5 levels of dimming to fit your desired lighting preference.  You can adjust the color temperature from a warm 3000K to a cool 6500K, and the brightness level from 10% to 100%, all with the included remote.  The remote allows you to cycle through to find the combo you like best.  I will cover that in more detail in the next section.

Remote control features

One of my favorite features is the remote.  Who doesn’t love a remote?  To use the remote, just make sure the lamp is plugged into a power source and that the foot switch is in the ON position. Once that’s set, you’re good to go with full control of the bulb with a range of up to 65 feet from the lamp.

  1. 1 hour timer button: The bulb flashes once after pressing it to indicate the mode is turned on.
  2. On/Off button: Turn the bulb on and off.
  3. Brightness + button: Press this button to increase the brightness- 5 levels in total.
  4. Brightness – button: Press this button to decrease the brightness- 5 levels in total.
  5. Color temperature + button: Press the button to increase the color temp- 5 levels in total.
  6. Color temperature – button: Press the button to decrease the color temp- 5 levels in total.
  7. Max brightness button: Press this button once to adjust the brightness to 100% at the current color temperature.
  8. 3 color temperature mode: Press this button to cycle through the 3 most common color temperature modes. *I could not find a definitive answer to what those 3 modes are
  9. Night light button: Press this button to enter Night Light Mode.
  10. Baby feeding button: Press this button to enter Baby Feeding Mode.
  11. Office button: Press this button to enter Office Mode.
  12. Reading button: Press this button to enter Reading Mode.

I love the variety of ways to find your desired lighting combo on the EDISHINE lamp.  From the predetermined modes to being able to toggle through all the options manually, you are sure to find a fit for you.  That said, I do feel a little awkward choosing the baby bottle icon and “baby feeding mode”.  For me, and probably many others, this seems overly specific and irrelevant.  I recommend EDISHINE to consider a broader option for that mode that would appeal to the masses.  My suggestion might be something like calling it a “wind down mode” and using a calming candle icon to illustrate that mode.

Assembly, Installation, Setup

The EDISHINE Rattan Floor Lamp comes safely packaged surrounded by Styrofoam and additional cardboard in the shipping box.  I must admit I was rather impressed by how thoughtful they package to ensure it arrives to its destination unharmed.  From unboxing to fully assembled is a quick production.

The lampshade is probably the most difficult part, but not really difficult at all.  Lay the linen lampshade on a flat surface and get the 2 circular metal rings.

Ensuring that you follow the diagram in the instruction manual, make sure that your rings are facing the correct direction.  Slide the two round metal rings facing each other each into the snap on either side of the lampshade, beginning with the snaps on one end of your linen lampshade.   Roll the rings down the lampshade snapping in place as you go.

Once you reach the end, there is Velcro to connect and secure.  Do your best to stretch and line up the strips to complete the linen lampshade.  For the most part, it lines up fairly seamlessly.

Next step in assembling your EDISHINE Rattan Floor Lamp is screwing all the metal parts together.  Beginning with the pole that connects in the base, screw each section in clockwise as you go up the lamp.  You will have to gently pull the cord through as you go.

Be sure to remove the packing cardboard located in the poles as you assemble.

Place your choice of linen shade, rattan shade or both using the socket ring to attach your lampshade(s) on the socket.  Note: Your EDISHINE floor lamp comes with two of the socket rings, you only need one and the other is an extra.

Lastly, screw the included LED light bulb into the socket.  Now your EDISHINE lamp is ready to use.

Final thoughts

The EDISHINE Rattan Floor Lamp did not disappoint.  As far as style is concerned, it is modern and blends in well with my existing furniture and style.  While there are a few things I might change, like including batteries and renaming the “baby feeding mode” to something less specific, overall, it is a fantastic lighting option.  My favorite feature is the remote, which offers a variety of color temperatures and brightness levels.  If you are in the market for a new lamp with style, I recommend considering the EDISHINE Rattan Floor Lamp.

What I like about EDISHINE Rattan Floor Lamp

  • Stylish and sturdy
  • Remote controlled
  • 5 color temperatures and 5 level of brightness
  • 1 hour timer

What needs to be improved?

  • Include batteries for remote
  • Consider removing or rebranding the “baby feeding mode” button and image of baby bottle on remote
  • Foot pedal- is it needed?
