Evnroll’s New ORIGIN Putters Have Even Sweeter Faces

With only four models, one could consider Evnroll’s new ORIGIN putter line as a small release. Don’t let the number of models fool you. This new line of Evnroll ORIGIN putters could have a big impact on your putting performance.

MyGolfSpy readers are well aware of just how good Evnroll’s putters perform. Evnroll putters, especially the ER2, have racked up numerous Most Wanted putter wins.

In doing so, Evnroll definitively demonstrated that their SweetFace grooves work as advertised, improving not only distance control but reducing dispersal.

In terms of assistive putter technologies, Evnroll’s milled grooves are the gold standard.

The strength of the SweetFace is what makes the ORIGIN release so interesting and significant. Although there are only four models, each model features Evnroll’s new SweetFace 2.0 grooves.

Yes, that means that the Sweetest Face in Golf is now potentially even sweeter (and more helpful).

Changing the SweetFace is risky

EVNROLL 2025 V Series V5.1 4

Evnroll updating their SweetFace grooves is a big, and potentially risky, deal.

The original SweetFace grooves are proven performers. If the new grooves don’t live up to the standard set by the original grooves, Evnroll risks losing their market share and loyal customers.

Companies are well aware of the New Coke debacle.

However, if Evnroll just keeps rolling out the same grooves year after year, they risk falling behind other companies who continue to innovate.

Obviously, Evnroll decided to develop new grooves that they say surpass the performance of the original grooves in three key areas.

Evnroll’s new SweetFace 2.0: Softer, faster, straighter

Evnroll Origin ER5 7

The SweetFace 2.0 grooves on the Evnroll ORIGIN putters improve upon the original in three ways. The new grooves create a putter face that is softer, faster and straighter.

To accomplish this, Evnroll shallowed out the depth of the grooves and introduced a new “parabolic wave pattern” design.

The shallower grooves make the putters feel softer by reducing the metal that will contact the ball at impact. The soft feel is also enhanced by an overall thicker face structure.

The reduced groove depth is also responsible for ball speed gains. The ball spends less time on the face, rolling toward the target more rapidly after impact. The variable pattern still normalizes distance on off-center strikes.

The new parabolic wave shape enhances the heel/toe strike correction for dispersal as well. The variable thickness of the grooves redirects heel or toe strikes toward the center, keeping the ball on the intended line.

I’ve seen these waves before …

Guerin Prototype 1

When I saw the new SweetFace 2.0 grooves for the first time, I knew I had seen something like that before from Guerin Rife.

Searching through my putter photo archive, I came across the 2014 Guerin Master Milled Tour Spec blade. Lo and behold, there were the waves.

Guerin Prototype 2

Obviously, these are not the same grooves as the new SweetFace 2.0 grooves. This putter pre-dates the SweetFace grooves and Evnroll by a couple of years.

Still, it was cool to see that Rife has toyed with this unique groove shape in the past and that it was still in his design arsenal.

(It was also cool to have evidence that my memory still works on occasion.)

So that is the ORIGIN SweetFace 2.0 groove story. Let’s move on to the new models.

Evnroll ORIGIN ER2

Evnroll Origin ER2 1

A refined mid-blade inspired by Evnroll’s most awarded model, the legendary ER2.

If you are surprised by the inclusion of the ER2 in the ORIGIN line, you haven’t been paying attention. The ER2 is the MVP (Most Valuable Putter) when it comes to MyGolfSpy putter testing.

The ER2 is the Anser or the Newport head in the Evnroll line. It’s the fan favorite, likely accounting for the majority of Evnroll’s sales. There was no way this model was not going to be included in the ORIGIN line.

Evnroll Origin ER2 2

Unlike the Anser and Newport, the ER2 is a relatively new model. Because of this, the ER2’s popularity is based upon recent performance rather than decades of name recognition and nostalgia.

Golfers love the ER2 because the ER2 putts balls in holes.

If you are concerned about the new grooves spoiling the ER2’s winning ways, don’t be. The ORIGIN ER2 is as point-and-shoot as any version I’ve rolled and I would say the feel off the face is better.

Evnroll ORIGIN ER5

Evnroll Origin ER5 1

A modern “winged” mallet with the center cavity eliminated for strong, angular lines and maximum heel-toe weighting.

There is a horror movie where the vampires had long, skinny fangs at the fronts of their mouths rather than the typical extended incisors.

I can’t remember the name of the movie, perhaps my memory is too full of putters, but “long fangs” was my first thought about the look of the ORIGIN ER5.

Evnroll Origin ER5 2

Anyway, the fangs of the ORIGIN ER5 appear longer and narrower than those found on a traditional fang putter. I think the lack of a flange behind the face gives the ER5 a sleeker look.

At address, many of the visual elements of the ORIGIN ER5 run parallel to the target line. The combination of the outer angles and the extended sight lines draw the eyes to the center and the front of the putter.

Of the four ORIGIN models, the ER5 is the one with the most extensive alignment aides.

The ER5 is very steady through the stroke. The fang design positions most of the head weight toward the edges, boosting MOI and stability.

Speaking of weight, all four ORIGIN models feature removable weights so you can dial in your putter for your ideal head weight and swing weight.

Evnroll ORIGIN ER8

Evnroll Origin ER8 1

An elegant, compact, square-back mallet featuring updated contours and a full-length sightline.

Since it is a round mallet, some of you may be expecting me to speak ill of the ORIGIN ER8. In fact, the ER8 may be my favorite to roll in the batch.

(That, dear readers, is why you should roll every putter.)

The feel off the face is outstanding. The head geometries of the ER8 really complement the feel produced by the SweetFace 2.0 grooves.

Evnroll Origin ER8 2

The squaring of the rear of the putter does wonders for alignment. At least for me it does. At address, my eyes focus on the rectangular center section way more than on any of the curved edges.

The ER8 is a great example of why I find putter design so fascinating.

Squaring off the rear end of a round mallet produces a dramatically different look, potentially suiting the visual preference for a completely different batch of golfers.

Evnroll ORIGIN ER10

Evnroll Origin ER10 1

A full-sized, high-MOI mallet milled from 6061 aluminum with a 303 stainless steel weight wing for unmatched stability.

I probably should have saved the “dramatically different look” phrase for the Evnroll ORIGIN ER10.

The design of the ER10 is a little out there and I’m here for it. One of my favorite things about Evnroll is their willingness to push the envelope of mallet design.

We see this with their current zero-torque models but also with numerous previous models. With any Evnroll release, you are likely to find something a little more experimental when you climb to the double-digit model numbers.

Evnroll Origin ER10 2

The ORIGIN ER10 is a multi-material, high-MOI design. The outer body of the putter is 6061 aluminum with the central wing milled from 303 stainless steel.

The steel in the middle and aluminum to the perimeter is a bit unusual. Typically, companies will do the opposite, positioning the heavier stainless steel at the edges and the aluminum in the center. This pushes the weight toward the edges and boosts MOI.

The ORIGIN ER10 is still a high-MOI mallet, primarily because of the shape of the stainless-steel wing. The wing extends back toward the rear corners of the putter, adding weight to those critical areas.

What you end up with is a large-profile putter that is very stable. The aluminum face creates an impact feel that is not quite as soft as that of the other stainless-steel models.  Not a bad feel, mind you, just different from the stainless-steel feel.

I can’t wait for 2026 putter testing

Evnroll Origin Feat 2

With the addition of these new ORIGIN models, Evnroll is all set to make a strong statement in 2026. If the new SweetFace 2.0 grooves perform like Evnroll says they will, it would be hard to bet against the ORIGIN putters in next year’s testing.

When you add in Evnroll’s V-Series putters, zero-torque ZERO models and Tour Spec counterbalanced builds, you have one of the most comprehensive putter line-ups in the marketplace.

By the way, all four of the Evnroll ORIGIN models will be available in right-handed and left-handed dexterities.

Do you have a favorite ORIGIN model? Are those of you who’ve been gaming ER2s for years thinking that your trusty gamers may be in trouble?

If the SweetFace is even sweeter, your beloved Evnroll putter may be getting nervous.
