REVIEW – I’m a big fan of E-ink devices. You can keep everything on one device, transfer it to another device, convert your writing to text, and much more. The problem is, I don’t always have time to boot or wake up a device, create or navigate to a “notebook”, and start taking notes. Sometimes, I need to take quick notes on the fly, and for that, I still need pen and paper. I also need to keep it close by for those instances, like in my pocket or sitting next to me on my desk. My desk isn’t large, and I constantly have other things, like gadgets for review, taking up my desktop space. So, I want something small. Enter the Fisher Space Pen. I’ve had a few, but what if you could get one that NEVER RUNS OUT OF INK? That’s right. A pen that can literally write for a lifetime. Fisher has released the Space Pen Infinium, which they say can do just that. Read on to find out my thoughts on it and whether or not you should check it out.

Design and features
The main selling point of this pen is the length of time an average person can write using the Space Pen Infinium. Fisher boasts that under typical use, the Infinium will not run out of ink in that person’s lifetime. But what happens if it does? Then you send it back to Fisher, and they will replace the cartridge with a brand new one. That’s just how confident Fisher is.
The review pen I received is finished in chrome, like the Space Pen I’ve owned in the past, and is what I think of whenever I think of Space Pens. However, they do come in other finishes and pretty snazzy ones at that. There’s a titanium nitride that looks especially nice.
The Infinium comes in 2 different colors of ink. Guess what they are? Yeah, blue and black. Who’d a thunk it? The one I received came in blue ink and writes like any nice ballpoint pen you’re used to using. And because it’s a Space Pen, you can write upside down, right side up, even in zero gravity. I’m willing to try that last one if anyone can hook me up with a ride.
Performance
The Infinium writes like any other Space Pen I’ve ever had or used. I mean, it’s a ballpoint pen after all. If it’s sitting on my desk and I grab it to take a note, I sometimes have to do a quick scribble to get the ink flowing. However, if it’s been in my pocket, the ink flows much better since it has absorbed some body heat. The ball rolls smoothly without the grittiness that I’ve noticed with cheaper ballpoint pens. The ink is consistent with no hits or misses as I write. I hope that makes sense. I mean, there are no gaps left while taking notes.
Since the pen’s body is made of brass, there is a nice heft to it. It’s not heavy, but for its size, it feels right. It’s not like a cheap0 ballpoint that can bend and feels like you’re writing with a drinking straw. The length of the Space Pen Infinium is slightly longer than the normal Space pen, which I like since I have larger hands.
Final thoughts
The Fisher Space Pen Infinium is not cheap in my opinion, although I’m no pen aficionado. But, one pen that can last you a lifetime of writing? C’mon, that’s not nothing. Think of how much money can be spent on pens over someone’s lifetime. My problem is I’ve had a few Space Pens in the past. Notice I said had. Yeah, I lost them. So, I like the thought of one pen I can count on forever, but my track record has been less than stellar. Is the Space Pen Infinium worth the money? I have to say yes IF you can keep it.
What I like about the Fisher Space Pen Infinium
- Fisher quality
- Warranty
- Will last a lifetime if I don’t lose it
What needs to be improved?
- Nothing that I can think of.
