Caledonia Continues Hot Streak with Golfweek Top 100 Public Course Honor
Pawleys Island, SC — Continuing a banner year, Caledonia Golf & Fish Club is proud to announce its inclusion on “Golfweek’s Best 2025: Top 100 Public-Access Courses in the U.S.” list, reaffirming its place among the nation’s premier public layouts.
Golfweek’s Best rankings are compiled by a panel of more than 800 raters from around the world. Panelists evaluate courses based on 10 specific criteria, each scored on a 10-point scale. In addition, they submit a single overall rating (also on a 10-point scale), which is averaged annually to produce a final ranking.
The evaluation criteria include routing, integrity of design, quality of shaping, overall land use, greens and surrounds, variety and memorability of par 3s, 4s, and 5s, tree and landscape management, conditioning and ecology, and the “walk in the park” test.
Designed by the legendary Mike Strantz, Caledonia is equal parts artistry and architecture, playing through a beautiful piece of South Carolina Lowcountry land. Fairways are framed by majestic live oak trees draped in Spanish moss and complemented by scenic marsh views.
The course’s par 3s are among the strongest in the Myrtle Beach area, highlighted by No. 17, which is home to one of the layout’s largest greens and it’s encircled by sand.
A round at Caledonia crescendos at the iconic par-4 18th, widely regarded as one of golf’s best finishing holes. A precise tee shot on the dogleg right sets up a nerve-jangling approach over water to a green nestled in the shadow of the clubhouse, an unforgettable finish to a bucket-list round.
“This recognition from Golfweek means a great deal to our team,” said Bart Romano, director of golf operations at Caledonia and its sister course, True Blue Golf Club. “We take tremendous pride in delivering an experience that honors Mike Strantz’s vision and the natural beauty of the Lowcountry. To be ranked among the top 100 public courses in the country is incredibly rewarding, and we’re grateful to everyone who helps make Caledonia such a special place.”
The honor is the latest in a growing list of accolades for Caledonia in 2025. USA Today/10Best readers recently ranked it as the No. 4 public course in America, while Golfweek also named it one of the country’s Top 100 Resort Courses and No. 4 in South Carolina, one of golf’s most competitive states.
Just across the street sits True Blue – another Strantz masterpiece – giving golfers the chance to stay-and-play at two of America’s best courses.

Horseshoe Bay Resort: New Summit Rock Clubhouse Takes Private Member Experience to New Heights
HORSESHOE BAY, TX – It’s been a long time coming, and the wait is finally over. The Summit Rock Course at Horseshoe Bay Resort, the premier golf resort destination in the Central Texas Hill Country on scenic Lake LBJ, is proud to announce the opening of its newly constructed 22,000-square-foot clubhouse, and any member will tell you it was worth the wait.
Members who have the highest-tier membership at The Club at Horseshoe Bay Resort, have a new place to gather, dine, or congregate with friends before or after rounds on the Jack Nicklaus Signature Course that is ranked among the best in Texas. Perched above the 18th hole with magnificent views of Lake LBJ and the Texas Hill Country, the new clubhouse is more than just a place for a drink or dinner, it’s a centralized gathering spot purpose-built to promote community and camaraderie.

“The opening of the clubhouse marks a huge enhancement to the golf experience at Summit Rock,” said Anthony Holder, PGA, Director of Golf Operations at Horseshoe Bay Resort. “We already know the golf course (which opened in 2012) is special and the membership is special. But having a state-of-the-art facility that provides an exclusive retreat for members where they can relax, socialize and enjoy the world-class amenities is going to be huge.”
The new clubhouse was designed by nationally renowned THREE Architecture (which also crafted the incredible Cap Rock Members Club at Horseshoe Bay Resort) out of Dallas. The architecture draws on the German heritage of the Texas Hill Country with its use of local limestone, wood pillars, detailed interiors and steel craftsmanship.
The clubhouse has two levels. Men’s and women’s locker rooms are on the bottom floor. There, members and their guests can enjoy snacks, coffee, shoe cleaning service, a shower, dry or wet sauna, or just simply relax, perhaps by watching sports or other programming on the big screens.
“It’s designed to be a place where you finish your round, you settle up your bets, and you have your first drink,” Holder said. “Then you can go upstairs for a nice dinner or more drinks at Jack’s.”
The second floor is the main level, and that’s where Jack’s, the dining room, outdoor terrace, and golf shop are located. The golf shop, which is to the right, is actually separate from the main building.
Jack’s, which is named for Nicklaus, is Summit Rock’s 19th hole, a tavern area where you can unwind with a drink or two, take in live sports, and generally relax after a round before dinner, or for any occasion.

“Jack’s is a special spot,” said Stacey Persinger, General Manager of Membership at Horseshoe Bay Resort. “It’s truly a golfer’s dream. Here, members can settle their bets over craft cocktails, enjoy chef-driven cuisine, and unwind by the stone fireplace – all while taking in the sweeping Hill Country views through oversized windows or from the inviting outdoor patio.”
Indeed, the theme of great views is prevalent throughout the main level, and it extends to the clubhouse’s unique and inviting dining room, which can be formal or casual, intimate or accommodate large groups.
The dining room consists of six different rooms, all of which can open up to a main dining room. The individual rooms can accommodate anywhere from 12 to 60 guests, while the total capacity is closer to 180 people at a time.
Heading up the kitchen is Chef Miguel Ortiz, a beloved figure from Cap Rock Restaurant whose move to Summit Rock Clubhouse has been met with enthusiastic praise. His menu at Jack’s spans all-day classics and creative fare alike. “It’s going to be a great space for everything from casual mornings to special evenings,” said Persinger of the clubhouse setting.
The new golf shop also represents a significant upgrade for Summit Rock Golf Club members. It will differ from the other golf shops at Horseshoe Bay Resort, which features three additional golf courses designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr., in its offerings and feel. The 1,600-square-foot space will carry a variety of apparel offerings and accessories. Holder said many of the brands will be higher-end, and more lifestyle oriented, like button down shirts designed to be worn with jackets, high-end belts, and other business attire.
The new clubhouse represents a new era for the Horseshoe Bay Resort Summit Rock club members. For the past 13 years, they’ve been a tight-knit group. Events for Summit Rock members either required a tent or another location on property. Now everything can be centralized, and members who live in the community won’t have to drive far to get home (many will just take their own golf carts).
“I think bringing that all together and having a hub for camaraderie with fine dining for premier events and an elevated lifestyle at Summit Rock is what it’s all about,” Holder said. “It’s more than just a building. It represents our commitment to providing an exceptional private golf experience. This has been the missing piece for so long so it’s now giving those members the ability to have a space to spend the vast majority of their day there, be comfortable while doing it, and have multiple meal periods to service that.”
Persinger agreed: “This clubhouse will serve as a private haven for connection, cuisine, and camaraderie.”

Heritage Resorts and Golf ambassadors Nicolas Colsaerts and Marcel Siem join forces to support the fight against breast cancer
European Ryder Cup Star and six-time DP World Tour winner showed their support of breast cancer care in partnership with Heritage Resorts & Golf and the Siem Together Foundation
(Mauritius, 13 August 2025) European Ryder Cup star Nicolas Colsaerts and six-time DP World Tour winner Marcel Siem joined Heritage Resorts & Golf and the Siem Together Foundation for the inaugural AfrAsia Bank Charity Classic Swing, in support of breast cancer care.
Led by Laura Siem, a survivor of breast cancer herself and the founder of the Siem Together Foundation, the event saw 88 golf enthusiasts, committed personalities, and partners come together on Le Château Golf Course, consistently ranked the Indian Ocean’s best layout, to raise nearly Rs 3 million (56,770 Euro / 49,250 GBP) for Breast Cancer Care Mauritius and those affected by the illness on the island.
On the success of the first event of its kind, Laura said: “It was very touching to see so many come together and donate so much for a cause so close to my heart.
“The inaugural AfrAsia Bank Charity Classic Swing was simply extraordinary and a resounding success from start to finish. I couldn’t have done it without the help and support of our sponsors, those who took part on the day, and of course my husband and fellow Heritage Resorts & Golf ambassador Nicolas Colsaerts, who added element of stardust to the event.”
Members of the Indian Ocean’s only 45-hole golf resort were treated earlier in the week to an exclusive event hosted by the ambassador duo, which pitted Belgium’s first Ryder Cup player against fellow DP World Tour professional and island resident Marcel Siem in a team head-to-head showdown on La Réserve Golf Links, the region’s first and only contemporary links course.
With signed memorabilia, special Pro Shop vouchers and ultimate bragging rights up for grabs, team Colsaerts claimed victory on the day, winning 10 points to eight.
“We are extremely grateful to our ambassadors for being so involved in our events and for sharing in our passions, commitments and values,” commented Raoul Maurel, Chief Operations Officer at Heritage Resorts & Golf.
“All the participants felt extremely privileged to take part in these unique events and spend time with two world class players – access to whom, some said, was only what you could only dream about, especially so up-close and personal.
“Having not one but two of golf’s well-known names as genuine Friends of Heritage is an absolute honour and we look forward to future iterations of these events and others, which I’m sure will be added to our calendar,” he added.
Representing Heritage Resorts’ award-winning golf offering, Colsaerts and Siem aim to elevate Heritage Golf Club and La Réserve Golf Links’ global reputation, firmly putting the World Top 25 Resort on the golfing map and reinforcing its status as a premier destination.
