The Houston Dia de los Muertos Parade made a vibrant return for a fifth year, and hopefully, under clear skies.
The event, which has already become an exciting tradition for the city, was up against some stormy weather in 2024, but still emerged triumphant.

This year, just as much action, was complete with live music, a procession, food, arts and crafts, and more.
The parade started with a festival at 4 p.m. at Sam Houston Park, located at 1000 Bagby St. The parade started at 7 p.m.
The parade included five grand marshals:
– John Whitmire, Mayor of Houston
– Noe Diaz, Chief of Police, Houston Police Department
– Thomas Munoz, Fire Chief, Houston Fire Department
– Lesley Briones, Harris County Commissioner, Precinct 4
– Adrian Garcia, Harris County Commissioner, Precinct 2

Past years have seen a parade of performers, people in Catrina makeup, art cars and other vehicles to help commemorate this important cultural touchstone.
Dia de los Muertos is a lively celebration which began in Mexico as a way to honor our ancestors and recently departed alike.
The holiday is observed with lots of fall colors, food, celebration, and an ofrenda – or alter – featuring the photos of our beloved family members.
The Dia de los Muertos parade and festival launched in Houston in 2021.
