The actress did a complete 180 from her initial sympathetic stance towards the social commentator’s death and clarified that there is a bigger picture.
Last month, Jamie Lee Curtis could not hold back her tears while reacting to Charlie Kirk’s assassination during an interview where she hoped his faith meant something during his last breath.

The Oscar winner’s tone changed during her interview for Variety’s cover story, where she revisited her emotional response to Kirk’s death. Curtis explained that the press’ narrative was a complete misinterpretation of what she meant.
Curtis stressed that she was not even trying to talk about Kirk positively; instead, she was referring to his public expression of faith in God.
“And so it was a mistranslation, which is a pun, but not,” the Oscar winner continued. She also condemned the practice of giving public figures heat whenever they make political or social statements.
“In the binary world today, you cannot hold two ideas at the same time: I cannot be Jewish and totally believe in Israel’s right to exist and at the same time reject the destruction of Gaza,” Curtis declared in the interview.

The Blast shared that the political activist’s accused shooter, identified as Tyler Robinson, scored a minor win at the preliminary hearing ahead of his trial.
Before the day arrived, he had made a few requests regarding his appearance in subsequent hearings, including his choice of clothing and how he would be transported to court.
Robinson’s lawyer had filed a motion stating that he would rather appear in court fully dressed in his own clothes, rather than wear the uniform typically provided to inmates.
While the judge did not grant his second request regarding transportation, they did see reason to grant him a win on the first point. The court reportedly felt that his wearing a prison outfit could mislead prospective jurors into seeing him as guilty even before the trial commences.

Robinson would appear in court heavily shackled due to the emotional nature of his case, which may upset one or a few supporters of Kirk into attacking him. Judge Tony Graf also added another restraint, this time concerning the media’s conduct within the court.
Graf reportedly ordered that photographers and TV crews not capture images or footage of Robinson as he arrives, leaves, or stands in the courtroom. Should they manage to get a few shots, the press must not publish these images.
Robinson’s next court appearance is scheduled for January, and he is expected to attend in person rather than virtually, as he did the last time.

Legal experts have weighed in on the likely future of Robinson’s case and how everything may become muddled if top officials do not exercise caution in their public statements about the investigation’s progress and trial results.
As noted by The Blast, several top officials, including FBI boss Kash Patel and officials from the Utah County Jail, where Robinson is currently being held, have disclosed some sensitive information about the case. A significant revelation is the claims of DNA evidence linking Robinson to the crime scene.
A professor from New York Law School, Rebecca Roiphe, explained that such commentaries could subject the judiciary to unnecessary scrutiny, especially regarding its safety from outside influence.
Roiphe advised the FBI boss to step back from making further controversial remarks about the case and to refrain from addictive media appearances.

Seemingly right up his alley, the comedian touched on the topic of Kirk’s death during his show in Saudi Arabia, with over 6,000 audience members in attendance. Chapelle referred to the highly sensitive political landscape in America, adding that discussing Kirk in the wrong way can get people canceled.
Chappelle emphasized that, under Donald Trump’s administration, free speech in America had become a mirage. According to him, it was easier to freely express oneself in Saudi Arabia than in the current America.
He also predicted a possible sabotage or punishment for his previous comments on Israel and Gaza, especially his criticisms of the United States’ involvement in the crisis.
