The JOYROOM JR-PR1 Retractable Power Bank 10000 mAh was designed for convenience. The size/power, the built-in retractable USB-C cable, and the handy wrist strap all point to having portable power wherever you go.
The size is only slightly thicker than some other power banks that have only 5000mAh capacity, so the 10000mAh battery is welcome, especially for newer, larger electronic devices. The JOYROOM JR-PR1 Retractable Power Bank 10000 mAh includes a smart display that indicates remaining power as a percentage. When a green thunderbolt icon is displayed, it means that fast charging is enabled. ‘In’ and ‘Out’ are displayed when the JOYROOM JR-PR1 Retractable Power Bank 10000 mAh is either being charged or charging another device. I was hoping that the Smart Display would show more information, like power going out or coming in.
Having a built-in, retractable USB-C cable is a game-changer – no wonder many other manufacturers are offering this convenient feature. Fully extended, the cable stretches 70cm or about 27.5in. And there are 7 pre-defined ‘locking’ positions for the cable so that it does not retract, but when you want to fully retract the cable, extend it all the way, and it will reel itself back in completely. And there is a handy magnet to keep the cable end tucked in. The magnet is pretty strong, as one of the slight annoyances is that sometimes it’s difficult to pull the cable end out. The built-in cable can be used to charge other devices, but also to charge itself!
The built-in wrist strap is also a convenient feature, since there isn’t a MagSafe or other magnetic attachment for your phone. This can be easily solved by attaching a metal ring to the JOYROOM JR-PR1 Retractable Power Bank 10000 mAh.
Performance
The JOYROOM JR-PR1 Retractable Power Bank 10000 mAh offers 22.5W of fast charging, or can be put in a low current mode for those devices that require it. This handy device also offers passthrough charging, meaning it can be charging at the same time it’s charging another device. Something to note though, the charging speed is listed at 18W, but as mentioned previously, it can charge up to 22.5W.
Final thoughts
So does the JOYROOM JR-PR1 Retractable Power Bank 10000 mAh solve a convenience problem for me? Absolutely! The built-in, retractable cable and 10000mAh battery have made this my EDC item. Whenever I leave the house, I always grab this power bank and put it in my camera bag or computer bag. Sometimes, I just leave it on the end table in the living room, and whenever someone (or something) needs a charge, it’s right there, ready to go – no more finding a cable.
