Finally, Dinos Are Being Added To Microsoft Flight Sim 2024

A new expansion for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will bring famous locations from Jurassic World and Jurassic Park to the popular flying game. And yes, this includes dinosaurs. Finally, I can fly a 747 above the heads of dangerous dinos like the T. rex and Velociraptor. I just have to first, uh, learn how to fly planes in the super realistic simulator.

On August 5, Orbx and Universal announced a new Jurassic World-themed, official add-on for Microsoft Flight Sim 2024. This new add-on, Jurassic World: Archipelago, adds all of the islands seen in the Jurassic franchise to Flight Simā€˜s map. The islands are located just off the west coast of Costa Rica, as seen in the Jurassic Park movies and games. These islands will include ā€œiconic landmarksā€ and ā€œprehistoric creatures.ā€ On the add-on’s official site, the devs have included a list of dinosaurs you’ll be able to spot, and it includes: Brachiosaurus, Mosasaurus, Stegosaurus, Tyrannosaurus rex, Velociraptor, and a tease of even more to be announced later. As someone who firmly believes all video games are improved by adding dinosaurs, I’m very excited about this new add-on. I’ll have to learn how to play Microsoft Flight Sim, but hey, how hard can that be? Really, I’m asking. Someone help me.

Anyway, here’s the teaser for this upcoming add-on:

And here’s Orbx’s official description of the upcoming dinosaur Flight Sim expansion:

Set just before the events of the 2015Ā Jurassic WorldĀ filmĀ from Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment,Ā the islands are captured at a moment when the park is operational but not everything is under control. The landscape itself is much more than a pretty backdrop: it’s both a challenge for aviators and a journey of recreating your favorite movie scenes. Beyond Nublar, take the short flight to Isla Sorna and discover the sites and remnants of its past as ā€œSite Bā€ – and its resilient inhabitants. The other islands of the Muertes Archipelago are well worth exploring too, each different from the other. Half a dozen airstrips and twice as many helipads await across the islands – some more familiar than others – but all interesting destinations of their own. For your flights to and from Costa Rica, we have included custom scenery at both Juan Santamaria Airport and Herradura Bay Marina.

You won’t have to wait long to play this new add-on, either. Jurassic World: Archipelago will be available ā€œaround the end of AugustĀ Ā 2025/beginning of September 2025.ā€ It will first come to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, but soon after it launches there, it will also be available in Flight Sim 2020. The DLC is coming to Xbox, too.
