“It’s not a magic wand that will take your job,” Katie explains.
AI won’t automatically replace human tasks, or marketers for that matter. Instead, it requires thoughtful implementation and strategy to truly deliver value. Marketers must still define what success looks like, build a strong measurement plan, and identify where generative AI can enhance efficiency.
“It doesn’t replace everything we do; it just helps us do it faster.”
Looking Ahead: Focus on Foundational AI Skills First
With new AI tools emerging constantly, it’s tempting to chase the latest innovation. But Katie advises a more grounded approach:
“It’s easy to get swept up in new and exciting things, but focus on foundational skills first.”
Before layering on new AI technologies, ensure you have a solid grasp of the tools and systems you’re already using. Without proper implementation and change management, more tools can lead to complexity and loss of control.
She added:
“The 5P Framework is an opportunity to take a step back and make sure you have all the pieces you need to be successful. You want to have a clear Purpose, the right People, defined Process, correct Platforms, and a solid Performance plan that ties back to your Purpose.”
Experimentation is important, but so is intentionality. In a landscape where it’s easier than ever to misuse AI, strong fundamentals are your best safeguard.
