If you’ve been hoping for Monster Hunter Wilds to add a challenge that’s on par with Gore Magala, even in their Tempered forms, then you’re going to love fighting with Lagiacrus and Seregios. We’ll be going over the latter in this guide, which has certainly become one of the more difficult opponents in my opinion. Being dive kicked and thrown around is a humbling experience after hunting everything else. Here’s what you should know to conquer this sharp-edged beast.
How to find Seregios
This monster makes its first appearance in the “Clear with a Chance of Sandstorm” mission, which is unlocked after completing “A World Turned Upside Down” in Chapter Five. Seregios can then be encountered in the Windward Plains, Ruins of Wyveria, and Wounded Hollow.
Seregios’ Weaknesses

Seregios’ quick movements make it a difficult monster to deal with. Focusing on its weaknesses will help end this hunt a lot faster.
- Elemental Weaknesses: Thunder, Ice
- Weapon Type Weaknesses: Cut, Blunt
- Breakable Parts: Head, Tail (can also be severed), Wings x2, Legs x2 (weak point)
- Susceptible Status Ailments: Blastblight, Exhaust, Paralysis (less effective), Poison, Sleep, Stun
- Items and Traps: Flash Pod, Pitfall Trap, Shock Trap
How to Defeat Seregios

There are plenty of winged menaces that like to attack you from the air, yet few have felt this ferocious. The reason is that Seregios loves to take a small hop or quick upward flight before crashing down. Sometimes this will be a tail swipe, but a majority of these attacks will involve its legs. You should expect to get stomped and kicked quite a few times as you’re learning the flow of this fight.
Guarding is a wonderful way to protect yourself from aerial attacks, especially when you trigger a Power Clash. Perfect Guards will come in very handy here with how often these flying kicks are chained together. Evading (but certainly not diving) also works well, although you might get turned around trying to follow it. Do yourself a favor and stay out in the open. You don’t want to fight the camera on top of everything else.
Keeping it grounded is naturally a top priority. That is easier said than done with how much hopping you’ll need to deal with. Setting down traps is incredibly useful as long as you can lure the monster towards attacking the trap. No worries if you didn’t bring any, as Seregios usually migrates towards Area 8 and settles near the Vine Traps. It occasionally migrates to Area 5 as well, which has a few Sharp Crystal Pillars that can be knocked over with your slinger. Utilize these when the chance arises since they inflict big damage and keep the beast stunned.
If you need a more hassle-free method, using Flash Pods while Seregios is in the air will cause it to crash down and stay stunned for a handful of precious seconds. This is arguably the easiest way to give yourself time for free damage. Try to focus on the legs, given that’s its weak point.
Speaking of, Seregios will at times present a great opportunity to damage those weak points. Some of its diving attacks will reveal a glowing red spot that you can Focus Strike. Taking advantage of this can lead to a knockdown, which is always a good thing.
Something else to watch out for is its ranged scale-flinging attacks. Seregios can throw off its scales while shaking its head on the ground or swiping its tail in mid-air. What’s annoying about them is that they inflict the not often seen Bleeding effect, which deals damage every time you attack or move. With how often you’ll likely be dodging, this can end up being a real problem. Bringing skills or talismans with a high Bleeding Resistance will be a big help. Otherwise, you can bring items that treat bleeding such as Wild Jerky, Well-Done Steak, and Sushifish Scale.
Tempered Seregios presents an extremely difficult challenge. Attacks come out far more often and take huge chunks out of even the strongest armors. Perfect Guards are a requirement due to how much chip damage you can receive. Likewise, the Evade Extender or Evade Window skills are a must if you’re unable to guard. Getting knocked down when this monster has three more kicks in the chamber is not a great place to be. Don’t be too aggressive with long combos, keep your health up, and give praise to anyone joining you with a Hunting Horn. You’ll need all the buffs you can get to beat the Tempered version.
Seregios’ drops

Seregios straddles the fine line between being frustrating and fun to hunt. That only makes these drops all the more worth it. I’ve listed every Seregio material drop below, sorted by drop frequency.
- Seregios Carver (100% chance for breaking the Legs)
- Seregios Scraper (100% chance for breaking the Wings)
- Seregios Slavescale
- Seregios Airblade
- Seregios Breacher (100% chance for breaking the Head)
- Seregios Impaler (100% chance for breaking the Tail)
- Seregios Certificate S
- Seregios Dissenter
Just like Lagiacrus, some of the drop rates are incredibly low. Saving an investigation that features a Seregios Dissenter as a Bonus Reward is the most reliable way to acquire this rare material.
Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows PCs.
