PGA Championship Fashion Dimes & Crimes: Day 1

EVR stalks the canyon, J-Day’s cool stroll, FootJoy’s latest Legend has Carolina in its mind, Chef Woozy cooks up a clean fit, and more. Tour Editor Michael Ruuska breaks down the best and worst looks from Thursday at Quail Hollow.

Fashion Dimes

Erik van Rooyen (Greyson Clothiers & Ecco Golf BOA)

First thing that caught my eye was the cool “airbrush” vibe I was getting from the landscape print on the Canyon Stalk Polo. Then I stopped to appreciate the appropriate length joggers (more on inappropriate length joggers in “Crimes”). Finally, I noticed that EVR was wearing the Ecco Golf Biom H5 BOA, and my jaw almost hit the ground. These are amongst the coolest (literally) golf shoes of 2025 and somehow, I missed that they make them with BOA Fit System?!

Adam Scott (Uniqlo & FootJoy)

The Gray Glen Checked Smart Ankle Trousers paired with the latest LE FootJoy Premiere Series Legends is a classy look. I would expect nothing less from Adam Scott. The second installment of the FootJoy Legends series combines hand-selected leather and Carolina Blue accents to elevate the Premiere Series even more than it already was. If that is possible…

Ryo Hisatsune (Taylor Made & Nike Golf)

Ryo rocks, right? Righteously rad!

Min Woo Lee (Lululemon & FootJoy)

Have you ever seen Min Woo Lee in an ill-fitting outfit? The answer is no. No, you haven’t. He is always on point.

Max McGreevy (Original Penguin & Puma Golf)

Max doesn’t get enough credit for his style. Original Penguin is also often overlooked. Appreciate both. McGreevy’s joggers give this kit a youthful flair that I am digging. Also, they fit him to a tee (read on).

Karl Vilips (Sun Day Red)

I have not had an opportunity to see Sun Day Red up close but if it looks this good in person, I can understand what all the hype is about. When it first rolled out, it looked sloppy. This is CLEAN.

Jason Day (Malbon & PAYNTR)

I am firmly in the “pro” Jason Day/Malbon camp. This is good for golf. It is fun. And, most importantly, looks cool. Let’s not sleep on PAYNTR Golf either. I haven’t tested them, but they are making some fire kicks. Yowzah.

Will Zalatoris (FootJoy)

Details from top to bottom. Notice how the navy-tipped interior collar on his polo perfectly matches the navy patent leather around the sole of the shoes. Will and FootJoy do not miss a beat.

Tom Hoge (Flag & Anthem & FootJoy)

Here is another masterful example of how your shirt and shoes can complement one another. Tom’s Flag & Anthem MVP Fridley Agave Print Polo pairs beautifully with the Carolina Blue accents on his FJ Legends. Terrific, Tom.

Eric Steger (johnnie-O & FootJoy BOA)

Johnnie-O, Smathers & Branson, and BOA Fit System? You know what side of the fence I am on. DIME.

Brandon Bingaman (Greyson Clothiers & FootJoy)

Not even sure who this is but I got mad respect for his style, yo!

Fashion Crimes

Alex Noren

Remember when I gave you examples of how you SHOULD wear joggers (Erik van Rooyen and Max McGreevy)? Well, this is how you should NOT wear joggers! What the heck? They are too big and too long!

Phil Mickelson

And long joggers over a certain age are even worse!

Sergio Garcia

Sergio is becoming a staple in the Crimes column.

Cleeks GC

Admittedly, I am not a fan of the LIV logos but tell me something…does the Cleeks GC have the worst LIV logo? Martin Kaymer looks like he should be delivering packages for UPS and Richard Bland looks, well, bland.

Matt Fitzpatrick

If I am not mistaken, Matt Fitzpatrick was playing in a threesome with Jon Rahm, correct? Do you think he mistakenly took his trousers? These are HUGE.

Rupe Taylor

The pants are too long (sensing a theme here? Find a tailor!). But the bigger fashion crime is that belt and shirt combination. Yikes.
