PXG has added four new Lightning drivers to the USGA conforming list with the Max 10K, Max Lite, Tour Mid and Tour models unveiled in September 2025.
While little detail is known about the next generation of PXG drivers other than information included in the conforming list, the Lightning models are set to be the replacement for the Black Ops driver series.
All Black Ops drivers achieved 10K MOI for the first time, but PXG have seemingly made a switch to fit in with their rival brands by expanded the range on the Lightning to offer a wider range of options.
The four models launched include the Lightning Max 10K for ultimate forgiveness, the Lightning Max Lite for golfers with slower swing speeds, the Lightning Tour Mid as an all-rounder and the Lightning Tour for low-spin options.
PXG Lightning Max 10K Driver Specs & Design
The Max 10K version of the Lightning is PXG’s flagship for maximum MOI and super-high forgiveness and this model is carried over from the Black Ops series.
A likely successor to the Black Ops XF driver, it is once again designed to rival market leaders in stability and maximum forgiveness as an alternative option to the likes of Ping’s Max 10K.
Surpassing the 10,000 MOI ballpark for forgiveness levels, the design once again targets golfers who want straighter drives and help on mishits from across the face.
From the images released, the driver has two visible sole weights that can be interchanged for additional tuning for launch and spin. There is also a rear port weight for increasing forgiveness levels.
The Lightning Max 10K model is sold in 8 degrees, 9 degrees, 10.5 degrees and 12 degrees lofts with three degrees of adjustability.
PXG Lightning Max Lite Driver Specs & Design
The Lightning Max Lite is a lighter-weight variant of the Max 10K and is designed for golfers with moderate to slow swing speeds who need help extracting distance off the tee.
PXG have stripped back elements of the Max 10K to save weight, with the sole weights one of those features removed from the Max Lite.
The result is a driver that focuses in on lightweight performance with high MOI, helping to generate maximum speed through the air for those who want – or need – effortless launch.
The Max Lite, which is the next generation of the Black Ops Ultra Lite, comes in two loft options of 10.5 degrees and 11.5 degrees and has three degrees of adjustability.
PXG Lightning Tour Mid Driver Specs & Design
The Tour Mid model of the Lightning series is the more standard of the two “Tour” options and offers slightly more forgiveness than the Tour.
Very similar in design to the others in the series, this model has a lower launch and spin levels than the Max options but still has plenty of forgiveness to offer.
The Tour Mid has the two sole weight ports, features a tweak to the internal weighting for improved stability and targets low to mid-handicap golfers seeking a blend workability with forgiveness.
The Tour Mid driver is available in 8 degrees, 9.5 degrees and 10.5 degrees loft options with three degrees of adjustability.
PXG Lightning Tour Driver Specs & Design
Designed for accomplished players seeking precision, the Lighting Tour replaces the Black Ops Tour-1 model as the elite-level performer of the series.
Aerodynamic shaping and a deep channel maximize clubhead speed for players with fast, aggressive swings.
The design once again features the two adjustable sole weights, but this model is all about low-spin and delivering a piercing ball flight for long distances.
The Tour driver is available in 8 degrees, 9 degrees and 10.5 degrees and can be adjusted by up to three degrees.
