Caitlin Clark’s Prediction Comes True as Taylor Swift’s ‘New Heights’ Podcast Episode Crashes

The long-awaited “New Heights” podcast episode featuring Taylor Swift promised everything fans could hope for: football stars, a pop icon, and a massive online audience ready to tune in. However, just as millions settled in for the debut, the stream went dark. WNBA star Caitlin Clark had predicted exactly this scenario.

How Did Caitlin Clark’s Prediction About Taylor Swift’s Podcast Episode Become True?

Monday’s announcement that Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and his brother Jason would launch their new episode alongside Swift sent the internet into overdrive.

Wednesday’s episode promised Swift’s first-ever guest appearance on New Heights, drawing anticipation from around the globe. The reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year, Clark, even joked earlier in the day, “Are we sure YouTube isn’t going to crash tonight?”

She proved prophetic. An hour and 44 minutes into the premiere, YouTube abruptly cut to black for viewers worldwide. By that point, the live stream had already peaked at over 1.3 million viewers, according to Front Office Sports.

The podcast’s official X account quickly confirmed a “technical difficulty” and promised the episode would return shortly.

When the crash happened, Clark wasted no time retweeting her prediction with the playful caption, “Swifties so powerful we broke the internet.”

The post lit up online, with Swift’s loyal fanbase embracing the moment and showering Clark with messages of solidarity.

Why Is Clark Such a Devoted Swift Fan?

Clark’s Swift fandom runs deep and is public. In 2024, she made headlines after attending two Eras Tour stops in Indianapolis. As a thank-you gesture, Clark later received four bags of merchandise from Swift.

In January, she joined Swift in a suite at Arrowhead Stadium to watch the Chiefs defeat the Houston Texans, 23-14, in the AFC Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs.

Speaking to ESPN after that game, Clark described Swift as one of the sweetest people she’s ever been around. Their shared passion for the Chiefs has deepened their bond.

“She loves the Chiefs just as much as I do. I’m talking football with her. She loved it, and just like her passion, and honestly, probably one of the sweetest people I’ve ever been around,” Clark said.

Clark also mentioned that Swift never forgets to treat people with kindness. “It’s really true. She just treats everybody with the same amount of kindness, and her family was great.”

Additionally, Clark noted how both stars navigate life in the spotlight. “I think what people don’t always realize about people with a certain spotlight, whether it’s her, whether it’s me, whether it’s another professional athlete or a pop star, we’re real people.”

She also emphasized that their conversations were surprisingly ordinary despite the spotlight both live under. “We’re just having normal conversations as any other person in Arrowhead Stadium that night,” Clark said.

Beyond their personal connection, Clark has shown support for Swift’s career milestones, including posting about the pop star’s upcoming 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, which will be released in October.

For Clark, the podcast crash was more than a funny coincidence. It represented another chapter in her ongoing public connection to Swift. For the millions of Swifties and sports fans trying to watch, it served as a reminder of just how powerful the pop icon’s pull remains.
