Daniil Medvedev vs Alexander Bublik Preview
Third seed Daniil Medvedev will take on Alexander Bublik in the final of the Halle Open on Sunday, June 22. The Russian has not had the best of seasons, winning 23 out of 35 matches, most notably reaching the semifinals of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells.
Medvedev’s clay-court season ended with a disappointing opening-round exit at the French Open, and he did not have the best of starts to his grass swing, as he lost in the quarterfinals of the Libéma Open. The 29-year-old started the Halle Open well, beating Daniel Altmaier 6-3, 6-3. He then registered further straight-set wins over Quentin Halys (6-2, 7-5) and Alex Michelsen (6-4, 6-3) to reach the semifinals.
Here, Medvedev faced second seed Alexander Zverev, and the two played out a thrilling encounter that lasted for just over three hours. The Russian had a few match points in the second set but eventually won 7-6(3), 6-7(1), 6-4 to reach his first final since last year’s Indian Wells Masters.

Alexander Bublik has won 15 out of 29 so far this season and got off to a poor start before turning things around during the clay season. The Kazakh reached his maiden Grand Slam quarterfinal at the French Open, where he was trounced by Jannik Sinner.
Bublik started his grass-court season at the Halle Open, where he beat Alexandre Müller 6-4, 6-4 in the first round. The 28-year-old then produced arguably the upset of the tournament by defeating World No. 1 Jannik Sinner 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 to book his place in the quarterfinals.
Here, he faced seventh seed Tomáš Macháč and won 7-6(2), 6-3 to set up a semifinal clash with eighth seed Karen Khachanov. The Kazakh found himself a set down but produced a fine comeback to take the second set via a tiebreak and force the match into a decider. Bublik’s solitary break in the seventh game was decisive and he eventually won 4-6, 7-6(5), 6-4 to reach his second final in Halle.

Daniil Medvedev vs Alexander Bublik Prediction
Medvedev is the clear favorite to win the match on paper, considering his perfect head-to-head record against Bublik. However, the Kazakh has produced quite the turnaround over the past month and will be high on confidence after defeating three seeded players, including Jannik Sinner.
Medvedev has won 76.7% of points (151 out of 197) on his first serve during the Halle Open, serving 41 aces. The Russian has an effective serve and is a solid counterpuncher, who can swiftly change the tempo when needed. His return of serve will also come in handy, and it will be a skill that’ll come in handy against Bublik, who is one of the best servers on tour.
The Kazakh’s first-serve numbers have been impressive so far in Halle, as he won 164 out of 202 points (81.2%) on it, producing 65 aces. He will rely massively on his service games and put pressure on Medvedev. Bublik has produced more winners than unforced errors in his last three matches and will be eager to maintain that record in the final as well.
While Bublik, on grass and with his current form, is a very tough opponent, Medvedev’s balanced game should be able to see him get the win and clinch his first title since 2023.
Prediction: Medvedev to win in three sets.
