The Oklahoma City Thunder face Game 7 of the NBA Finals tonight against the Indiana Pacers, but general manager Sam Presti has already secured the franchise’s future through extensive draft preparation. Ten prospects worked out with the Thunder throughout May and June, showcasing their commitment to building sustained championship contention.
Oklahoma City owns three draft selections: No. 15 from the Miami Heat, No. 24 from the Los Angeles Clippers, and No. 44 from the Atlanta Hawks. The Thunder evaluated prospects ranging from projected lottery picks to developmental players across all levels.
Top 5 Draft Prospects the Oklahoma City Thunder Evaluated
Cedric Coward – Washington State
The 6’5″ guard has emerged as one of the draft’s biggest risers despite playing just six games due to a shoulder injury. Cedric Coward averaged 17.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 3.7 assists while shooting efficiently when healthy. His 7’2″ wingspan and versatile skill set have generated lottery-level interest from multiple teams.

Johni Broome – Auburn
This season, the 6’9″ center dominated college basketball, earning SEC Player of the Year and consensus All-American honors. Johni Broome’s impressive stat line of 18.6 points, 10.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 2.1 blocks per game demonstrates his two-way impact.
