It’s only Week 2, but some NFL teams are already scrambling for answers at wide receiver following a wave of early-season injuries.
The Green Bay Packers lost wideout Jayden Reed to a shoulder injury in Week 2 and Christian Watson will miss a significant chunk of the season as well. Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs continue to search for reliable pass catchers with Rashee Rice suspended and Xavier Worthy injured.
With depth quickly becoming a concern, teams may soon turn their attention to the free-agent market for help. Several proven receivers are still available and could step in to provide valuable production. These are the top five free agent wide receivers who could find new homes at some point this season.
What Wide Receivers Are NFL Free Agents Right Now?
Tyler Boyd
Tyler Boyd is perhaps the most polished option currently on the market. The longtime Cincinnati Bengals receiver was once one of the best slot targets in the AFC, posting multiple 1,000-yard seasons earlier in his career.
Across his nine-year career, Boyd has racked up 552 receptions for 6,390 yards and 31 touchdowns.

Boyd’s experience in high-volume passing offenses could make him attractive to contenders like the Packers and Chiefs. With injuries mounting, Boyd stands out as the most “plug-and-play” solution.
Allen Robinson
Allen Robinson is making headlines for his willingness to get back on the field. Just last week, Robinson tweeted about how he could be of service to the Chiefs.

Though his prime years are behind him, Robinson remains a big-bodied target who can win on contested catches. For a team like the Chiefs, he could fill a much-needed role, helping Patrick Mahomes while providing leadership to a young WR room.
Odell Beckham Jr.
Odell Beckham Jr. is still a recognizable name in the NFL, even if his explosive highlight-reel days are behind him.
Coming off a brief stint with the Miami Dolphins, Beckham flashed at times in 2024 but was limited by injuries and usage. Still, his pedigree, experience, and big-play ability make him a worthwhile signing for a contending team.
Beckham may no longer be a true WR1, but his route-running and clutch playmaking remain valuable for any franchise.
Diontae Johnson
Diontae Johnson remains one of the more intriguing free agents on the market. Known for his quick footwork and separation skills, Johnson was Pittsburgh’s most reliable chain-mover for several years, averaging nearly 900 receiving yards per season during his time with the Steelers.
However, Johnson has been on the move a lot over the past two years. He was traded to the Carolina Panthers in March 2024 before again being dealt to the Baltimore Ravens in October 2024. He was waived in December and had brief stints with the Houston Texans and Cleveland Browns.
For teams lacking a consistent short-to-intermediate target, Johnson could step right in and produce.
Nelson Agholor
Nelson Agholor has had his ups and downs throughout his career, but he still has a lot to offer.
Agholor has bounced around with stops in Philadelphia, New England, and, most recently, Baltimore, where he posted 231 yards and two touchdowns last season.
While never fully living up to his first-round pedigree, Agholor can provide much-needed depth for teams trying to replace injured starters.
