Serena Williams Gets Stung by a Wasp

Williams recently took to social media to share that she had been stung by a wasp and was experiencing significant pain. She noted that there was no swelling in the area where she was stung, but the pain was extreme.

“I just got stung by a wasp. Well actually about 4 hrs ago. How long does it hurt? It’s not swollen I just have pain… humm? Anyone?” Williams posted on X (formerly known as Twitter).

On the tennis side, during her career, Williams won a total of 39 Grand Slam titles: 23 in singles, including seven titles each at the Australian Open and Wimbledon, six titles at the US Open, and three titles at the French Open. She also won 14 major titles in doubles and two mixed doubles titles.

Williams retired from professional tennis in 2022 after competing in the US Open, where she triumphed over Danka Kovinić and Anett Kontaveit before losing to Ajla Tomljanović in the third round.

Serena Williams Launches New Podcast With Sister Venus Williams

Williams and her older sister, Venus Williams, launched a new podcast on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2025. The podcast is titled “Stockton Street,” named after the street where the Williams sisters grew up in Compton, California.

New episodes of the podcast will be released bi-weekly on Wednesdays on X. In the first episode, Venus and Serena Williams interviewed each other, and it was filmed at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York, the venue for the US Open.

While speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about the “Stockton Street” podcast, the 23-time Grand Slam champion explained that the show presents an opportunity for her and Venus to be more open with each other and explore new topics together.

“As close as we are, we had to keep so many things distant because of our jobs. As much as she’s my sister, she’s also my opponent, and you can’t be as open as you want to be. So this a real opportunity to do something that we’ve been trying to do, and also just a discovery thing as well,” Serena Williams said.

Venus Williams added that she and Serena want to share their experiences on and off the court.

“What we want to share is all the things we’ve done and gone through that everyone goes through, whether it’s winning or losing on and off the court,” Venus Williams added.

Serena also stated that they have appreciated the growth and visibility of women’s sports. Therefore, their podcast will not focus solely on tennis; instead, it will be a sports podcast covering a variety of sports.

“We love this moment that we’re also seeing in women’s sports and developing that lifestyle. This isn’t a tennis podcast. This isn’t a sports podcast. Myself and my sister, we’ve always been part of so much more outside of that,” Serena Williams said.

The Williams sisters are regarded as one of the most successful doubles teams in history. Together, they have won 14 Grand Slam doubles titles and three Olympic gold medals in doubles. Their final professional doubles appearance took place at the 2022 US Open, where they lost in the first round to the Czech duo of Lucie Hradecká and Linda Nosková.
