Alexander Bublik shared the reason behind his emotions after winning the title at the 2025 Halle Open. On his path to claiming the title, the Kazakh defeated top players, including World No. 1 Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev.

During the post-match press conference, Bublik explained that his emotions stemmed from the challenges he had faced on the Tour since the 2024 Wimbledon Championships. He revealed that he had almost considered quitting his tennis career as he was no longer enjoying the game.
“Oh it’s tough to speak. I had such a tough months since last Wimbledon till probably this summer and I was close to calling it quits after Wimbledon because I was not enjoying it anymore. And I promised my coach that I will stay there and that I will keep practicing,” Bublik said.
Bublik shared that he had promised his coach to continue practicing. Now that he had reached the quarterfinals at the French Open and won at Halle, all his emotions came rushing back.
“And after Wimbledon, we will make a decision if I need to take a couple months off before trying to come back. Well this is happening. I don’t know. Quarters at the French [Open], winner here. I have no words,” he added.

Bublik had previously revealed that earlier this year, after losing in the first round of the 2025 Indian Wells Masters, he felt emotionally drained from tennis. His coaches suggested he take a trip to Las Vegas to clear his mind.
Following that trip, Bublik competed in the 2025 Arizona Tennis Classic, finishing as the runner-up after losing to João Fonseca in the final.
Where Will Alexander Bublik Compete Next?
Following the conclusion of his campaign at the 2025 Halle Open, Bublik is set to compete in the 2025 Eastbourne Open. This ATP 250 grass court tournament will take place from June 23 to June 28, 2025, at the Devonshire Park Lawn Tennis Club in Eastbourne, United Kingdom.
Bublik will face Francisco Comesaña in the first round of the Eastbourne Open. This match will mark the first time these two players will meet on the ATP Tour.
The winner of the match between Bublik and Comesaña will advance to face either eighth seed Nuno Borges or wild card Jack Pinnington-Jones in the second round of the tournament.
After the Eastbourne Open, Bublik will compete at the 2025 Wimbledon Championships. His best result at the London Grand Slam came in 2023 when he defeated Mackenzie McDonald, J.J. Wolf, and Maximilian Marterer in the first three rounds before falling to Andrey Rublev in the fourth round.
