Iga Świątek is closing in on another career milestone as she prepares for her first appearance in a Korea Open final. After battling through a rain-disrupted schedule and a demanding doubleheader in Seoul, the world No. 2 now turns her attention to Sunday’s title clash against Ekaterina Alexandrova.
But before getting back on the court, Świątek shared a relaxing moment on her Instagram story, giving the fans a look ahead of the title clash.
How Did Iga Świątek Overcome a Packed Schedule at the Korea Open?
Świątek’s path to the final was shaped by heavy rain delays that forced both her quarterfinal and semifinal matches to be played on Saturday. The compressed schedule tested the stamina of all competitors, yet the Polish star handled the pressure with ease.
She posted a laid-back picture of herself on Instagram, hinting at the long day. Tagging the official WTA Korea Open account, she wrote: “Today’s campsite Long but good day.”

Świątek’s Instagram update came after she handled a demanding doubleheader in Seoul on Saturday, overcoming two high-level opponents in back-to-back matches. In the quarterfinals, the world No. 2 faced former Grand Slam champion Barbora Krejčíková.
Expected to be a tightly contested battle, Świątek instead delivered a dominating 6-0, 6-3 victory in around 85 minutes. She blanked Krejčíková in the opening set and broke serve multiple times in the second, showcasing her trademark precision and impressive court coverage.
After a short break to refuel and regroup, Świątek returned to center court for her semifinal match against 19-year-old Maya Joint. Joint had upset third seed Clara Tauson earlier in the day, but she found Świątek equally uncompromising.
The Pole dominated from the start, winning 6-0, 6-2 in just over an hour. She closed out the first set in 25 minutes and stormed through the second by breaking early and maintaining her aggressive baseline play throughout.

By sweeping both matches with ease, Świątek emphasized her mental toughness and physical stamina. Despite the heavy rain that delayed the tournament’s schedule and the challenge of playing two matches in quick succession, she never looked fatigued or off her rhythm. The double-duty tested all players, but Świątek adapted seamlessly, dictating rallies with sharp groundstrokes and intelligent shot selection.
Świątek Awaits Final Triumph After Battling Rain Delays
With her semifinal win, Świątek is now set to play three matches in less than 48 hours, a grueling stretch by any measure. On Sunday afternoon, she will meet second seed Ekaterina Alexandrova in the Korea Open final. Alexandrova reached the championship match after a straight-sets semifinal triumph against doubles specialist Kateřina Siniaková and will present a fresh challenge.
Organizers were forced to compress the schedule due to Seoul’s unpredictable weather, fitting quarterfinal and semifinal matches on a single day for several players. These weather delays, including a full-day rainout, created a backlog that tested the tournament’s resilience and the athletes’ endurance.
