Is Davante Adams Playing Week 4? Should Fantasy Managers Worry About the Rams WR’s Injury?

The NFL season is in full swing. As happens every year, injuries are rearing their ugly heads. As fantasy football managers prepare to set Week 4 lineups, it’s important to stay informed on the latest injury news.

Is Davante Adams Playing Week 4?

Adams did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday due to a hamstring issue, earning him a spot on the team’s injury report. The 32-year-old veteran regularly gets Wednesdays off anyway as part of his standard maintenance routine, but the Thursday absence did ring some alarm bells. The good news is Adams returned to a limited session on Friday.

Adams is dealing with soreness rather than a strain, which is likely a product of him simply being older and needing a little more time to recover than he did during his Green Bay Packers days. At this stage of his career, routine rest becomes more important for maintaining peak performance throughout the long NFL season.

According to Rams beat reporter Adam Grosbard, head coach Sean McVay said he’s “not expecting it to affect their game status.” McVay discussed the injuries for Adams and other veterans, describing both as “sore” and adding, “Not expecting it to affect their game status. But we’ll take it a day at a time.”

The entire week, McVay has provided optimism that Adams would play despite the hamstring designation. McVay’s comments suggest this is more maintenance than a legitimate injury concern. The fact that the staff isn’t worried about Adams missing game time indicates this hamstring designation is procedural rather than problematic.

At 32 years old, Adams does have an increased risk of reinjury compared to younger players, particularly with soft tissue issues like hamstring problems. However, after more than a decade in the NFL, he also knows how to manage his body and understands when to push through minor discomfort versus when to rest.

Fantasy managers should expect Adams to play today against the Colts. His veteran status, combined with the team’s confidence in his availability and McVay’s consistent optimism throughout the week, makes him a safe option for Week 4 lineups despite the questionable designation.

Additionally, last night, Adam Schefter reported that Adams is expected to play.

Adams’ Fantasy Football Outlook

I know we are four seasons removed at this point, but man, what the Packers wouldn’t give to have a WR1 like Davante Adams on their roster.

The 32-year-old brought in a 44-yard pass from Matthew Stafford against the Eagles last week, and after struggling in the opener (WR41), he’s the eighth-best wide receiver in fantasy.

I don’t think he’s a top 10 player the rest of the way, but I do think he’s paused any concerns of Father Time and is to be locked into lineups as long as Stafford is under center.

Adams is clearly this team’s red-zone threat, and with Puka Nacua helping them matriculate the ball up and down the field, that role is going to hold value.

This week will serve as a good litmus test for the Colts’ defense, but I think they struggle to stop Adams’ athletic profile from making at least one splash play.
